Two Quick Interview Clips Released Featuring Christopher Answering Several Fan Questions

Random House has released two new “quick clips” of Christopher Paolini answering several fan questions! The clips were originally released to Facebook, though we have them in high-def here on Shur’tugal. The questions tackled include whether or not Nasuada will learn to use magic, how he visualizes his characters, his inspiration for Eragon, and more! Continue reading for both of these interviews. (Shur’tugal’s interview with Christopher Paolini will release this upcoming weekend.)

Here’s a full list of topics addressed in the two clips:

  • How long does it take to write an average length chapter?
  • What was Christopher’s main inspiration for Eragon?
  • How do you pronounce Shur’tugal?
  • When you write, do you see your characters as clear as daylight?
  • Does Nasuada learn how to use magic?
  • Where do you write?

  • barry bonds

i half expected Christopher to say “windows seven was my idea” at the end of video two lol

  • Ginger Eyes

Chris has such an adorable smile…

  • I thought your interview was gonna be up by Saturday?

It is Saturday… Its almost Sunday… And I am very sad 🙁

    • Coasterking

if you can learn to read  they mention on one of the other forms that it was moved to sunday

      • And it is now Sunday. Your point? Oh, and telling me to “learn to read” is pretty stupid when we’re on a fan-based forum for a book series, bro. I’d suggest punctuation for you.

        • Mr. Anonymous

Come on guys. We shouldn’t be nitpicking about days: it’ll come out when it comes out.

Did I hear that right? Writing while doing handstands? Uuuuuuh…..How?

These were released by Random House, the interview is due to be released on Lytherus (linked to from Shurtugal) on Sunday.

Will there be another interview coming out from shurtugal, or is this it? It’s kinda puny (no offense…) 🙂

Random House has also released the page count for Inheritance: 880.

This can also be found on Amazon, perhaps this information could be put on the front page?

    • I’m looking into this before we post it — it may be another placeholder. I want to be sure it’s an official page count before I spread any sort of information.

I didn’t expect this to be funny but it was! Apparently I sound like a dwarf (I’m working on being more elf like). Really really REALLY enjoyed this! Thanks so much!

And oh my gosh…. 60 more days! I’m kinda scared lol!

  • Hirador

He looks like a kid in my class now that i think about it…

  • The Green dragon

Is this your interview with him or is it just inter wows by random people?

    • The Green dragon

Stupid autocorrect. I meant to put interveiws.

      • Emily sasaki

This is just a short clip. The entire interview is releasing over the weekend.

i dont think this is the same interview as the one being released. this one is mostly through random house. not through shurtugal

          • Exactly right, assuming I read the description correctly.

  • Irock13198

    nice

  • Rubydragon

    60 more days. I’m pumped.

  • Rogerlairdwriting

My favorite answer was about how long it takes him to write a chapter. I wonder if he includes final editing time in that. It took me a couple days a piece to write each of my chapters in my book Legacy Book 1: Beginnings, but then I have spent a lot more time editing to get it ready to publish.

Exactly two more months until Inheritance comes out! I am bursting with exitement!

  • Elvendrago31

It is very nice to hear some these answered. Can’t believe i been saying it like a dwarf wow. But I like it as well to see how he see’s his characters and what was his inspiration. For his books have given me the idea to write my own and i know what it feels like to take a week to write a chapter I have done that my self.

  • Kewers77

Great clips! Thanks a lot, this will hold us over!

  • Does Nassy learn to use magic? She would probably rather die. She’s like Roran in my opinion she’s better without magic.

    “Asking” Several Fan Questions?

Just might wanna take a proofread of that title you got up there, Mike. 😛

    • LOL yeah you must’ve been pretty tired when you were posting this (Mike I mean).

    • Needless to say, it’s been a VERY long few days 😉

God, awesome. I’m hyperventilating back here. Shur’tugal. I can’t even believe I’ve pronounced it correctly all this time LOL and I always thought I did it the wrong way. Turned out, I didn’t! wow! Awesome (now i’m trying to sound more like a dwarf, but it’s kinda difficult).
I really liked that he answered the question about his inspiration to write Eragon. Quite interesting.
And OH MY GOD. CHRISTOPHER?! Why won’t you answer the questions which really matter? I mean, to answer about Nasuada wouldn’t be a big deal. I mean, it’s not such a HUGE spoiler. It’d be alright if you answered that. humpf. Now I’m even more curious.
And, one week to write a chapter? wow. now i kinda understand why we had to wait this much.

I liked that he said he doesn’t really care about the characters when it comes to physical characteristics. Oh my God. I loved it. I can’t even wait to shurtugal’s interview. I’ll probably freak out.

I think that more curiosity was the point of not telling us if Nasuada learns magic. Well played, Christopher. Well played . . .

It would be funny to see him writing doing hand stands!!!!

    • Laurelleaf9

Could you please ask CP if he REALLY writes while doing a hand stand. I hope it was a joke! (maybe not…)
