It’s to bad that warner bros removed the opening scene of Harry Potter 8. :'(
    When did they removed it?

I really like these “recap” posts, but you should post them on Lytherus, too. To be quite honest, these posts are layed out a lot better than the current archive over there. Just a suggestion…

    • I’ll definitely consider that. I completely re-hauled the archives page, however. Do you still think it’s not laid out well? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve it to make it more easy to navigate?

Feel free to reply here or to use the contact form on Lytherus to send in your thoughts. I read every email.

      Thanks!

First off, I never saw the way the archive was layed out before so I can’t comment on whatever changes you made to it.

I just think the archive is a little too busy. These recap posts are very streamlined, organized, SIMPLE. That’s what the archive needs – more simplicity. I like the “Browse by” options, but they’d make more sense if you implimented them into the navigation itself. I never would have thought of “filtering” the website through the archive. Maybe each of those categories in the navigation above the website: Books, Comics/Graphic Novels, etc… could open a pull down menu (similar to the navigation at the top of Shurtugal) and under each category, you can list those “browse by” options: News, Reviews, Interviews and All.

I also think the recap posts would be a lot better than the “Last Twenty Posts” and “Last Seven Days’ Posts By Day” options. I think dividing the archive into Weekly recaps and Monthly recaps would be much simpler. And I’d make the monthly archives as simplified as these weekly posts – no images or article previews or any of that, because when you go into them now, and there’s so much information to display (thanks to the images and article previews), it requires multiple pages for just ONE month you have to navigate through. It can get kind of confusing when you want to go back to the main archive page to get to another month and you have to go back through the other pages, get to the main archive page, remember the month you were previously viewing, and click the next, etc… If they were straightforward like the recaps, just headlines, they could all fit on one page and would be easier to navigate back and forth through.

Oh, and you might want to change the text line spacing and add some bullets to the links on the archive page, too, because compared to the rest of the website, the text line spacing is much smaller and runs all together. It’s difficult to distinguish which lines go together (like under the “Last Twenty Posts” category).

I hope I’m not being too nitpicky, just trying to help. 🙂

        • Thank you very much for the feedback! I’ll see what I can do to implement your suggestions. I really like your suggestion of making the books, movies, etc. links on the home page drop down with options for news, reviews, interviews, etc. I’ll see if we can pull that off.

As for formatting on the archives page (bullets, line spacing, etc) — that’s a work in progress. It broke on me and I’ve been trying to solve the issue, though I’m not too great with coding. It’s been taking longer than expected.

          Thanks again!

that looks like a lot of work but have fun 🙂

How about some more “monthly” Q&A’s? It’s been a long time.

    • I’ve addressed this *many* times now. First off, we scrapped the “monthly” part of the Q&A series because it was simply too much work to pull off monthly for Christopher and myself. People don’t realize it, but HOURS went into each of those Q&As.

Furthermore, with Book 4 announced, we’re likely scrapping the Q&As for good. We’re going to do regular interviews, some live, as well as many other project. Q&As simply don’t fit into the timetables I have to dedicate to Shur’tugal, but we’ll still be doing many interviews. Sorry!

      • bigmike

Does that apply to possible future books or are all Q&A probably gone for good? Just wondering.

        • when the razak mention the name in the latest book
“the name” may be the true name for the ancient language

          • XxxX

Welcome to September of 2008, Chris!!!
            😉

          • bigmike

What were we talking about again? I remenber saying something about the true name of the ancient language being to vague to be of any use or something like that.

I guess that’s all right, but I personally would like you posting a ‘final’ Q&A. In that way we could get the last good questions out, and everyone would know that there were nothing of that kind to wait for anymore.

        • Future interviews will include fan input. You guys will be able to submit your questions. They just won’t be done like we did the Q&As.

          • Denmark111

            Looking forward to it 🙂

            @mikemacauley:disqus
Funnily enough, I was going to ask the same thing but chose to scroll through the comments

On the side, I am sure that I don’t understand the time and effort put into these things
But, I also think that it’s hard for you, Mike, to understand the excitement some fans experience when seeing a new Q&A. I think I speak for everyone who comes to this site when I say that just one more Q&A would be a great send-off for the Fans of the Inheritance World. Please consider this. You sounded final when you said that its the end but just consider it. Don’t wipe the slate clean.
Maybe if this comment gets enough likes, huh?

What if you could play Eragons life nintendo style. So that if you die, you can just restart and do it over again. You could do things that would possibly kill you ,like single handedly storming galbis fortress, and if you mess up, you will be born again within the hour. And every time you kill some1, they bleed skittles and their bones become vanilla icecream. Ps. Im not bigmike. im his crazy neigbor, but im a huge fan of Inheritance.

      • bigmike

Sorry about that. My neighbor snuck on my computer. He is a lunatic. How can I remove his post?

        • Denmark111
