Okay, heres a scenario i find to possible and even probable, Paolini is towards the end of the book “I can smell the end” hes says, so with that being said either Galbatorix and Eragon have fought and Galbatorix is probably dead, so heres how i think Eragon has been captured, Eragon and Galbatorix have their Epic battle and Eragon slays Galbatorix, during this fight Murtagh has been watching torn between his love for Eragon and fighting his oath to Galbatorix (which would be very physically and mentally exhausting) After Eragon kills galbatorix the Varden the Elves and the Dwarves move in to either try to capture or kill Murtagh and Eragon who also loves Murtagh in a way defends Murtagh (who is exhausted from fighting his oath to Galbatorix) Eragon and Murtagh are both captured and recieve punishment, Eragon for turning on his own kind to save Murtagh and Murtagh for well being Murtagh, when released from their punishment they are told to leave forever and never return to Alagaesia.
I really want to read book 4 so honestly, christopher, please make sure it happens and it would have been interesting to know the script of what would of been arya x eragon, in eldest, but still yeah.
I think there will be no new ruler, and if there is it will be Nasuada. and eragon will find a new land and go live there in peace
CP really needs to hury up because conversation is really dying down. IT IS TIME TO READ!!
well anyway I think murtagh dies and he might be in a new characters dungeon! =}
Well, Nasuada did say she would have to deal with magic users so it is possible that Nasuada locked him up untill he agreed to leave Alaglaesia (Angela phrophesized that Eragon would have to leave Alaglaesia forever).
I just can’t see Nasuada just kicking Eragon out of Alagaesia, she seems to generally like him and trust him. maybe the other magic users, but not him.
i think him leaving the land has something to do with his encounter with the mena tree. And on behalf of the elves and other’s will not force him to leave till Galbys dead….
No here is some specuation. Eragon dosn’t kill Galbatorix, but Murtaugh changes his true name and is able to kill Galbatorix. The fourth dragon is saved by Eragon and transported by magic that he just learned but he is weakened from his use of magic so in fleeing is captured by Murtaugh and Thorn. The green dragon hatches for a dwarf which has never happened, Saphira is killed in battle and Eragon leaves with Arya to the land from which they came from so Eragon can escape his grief. Besides, Eragon said he can’t marry a normal woman because they age as he told Roran and he doesn’t. So Elva, the dwarf, and Murtaugh are the new Dragon Riders that will bring about a new golden age.
eragons guid to alagaesia was written after the cycle and eragon was the narrator clearly he doesnt die
Wow. CP really likes to leave us hanging. I think maybe Eragon could be in Murtagh’s dungeon? Because didn’t Moran have castles? So why wouldn’t Galby give Murt agh places to rest or just live? But then again, Murtagh would have handed him over…. But what if his royal self was busy with something else, like finding the true name of the Eldunari? Maybe I’m rambling, but that’s my idea!
nice 1.

I admit that the book is taking a long time to publish, but guys, it’s Christopher Paolini. He wouldn’t be taking this long unless the final book was worth the wait, which going off his previous books, it will be.
I don’t care if all of you guys hate it. That just means it will be easier for me to get a copy. Also im thinking Eragon gets captured by the grey people, who were talked about in the books, while travling to the rock of souls, metioned in the first book by solubum, which is east of the hadarac desert..The grey people will turn out to be on a third side in the war being angry at Galbatorix for invading their lands and at the Vardan for killing one of their people in an escape from their prison. Iv’e also heard that this will have the best fighting seens in the book. It might be Eragon vs Galbatorix. Eragon vs. the grey mens leader. Or mabey a 3 way battle in wich Galbatorix will get killed in because its obvious that he will die. (Just to let you know im 13 and I guessed all this)
Personally, I believe the information CP gave us is far too vauge to make anything of it. Authors are very good at giving the the fans info about upcoming books that doesn’t add up because they know we’ll be speculating…like we’re doing right now.
P.S. If you’re a hater of the series then what the hell are you doing here? Get lost!
arya is the only character who makes sense for eragon bc of…
1. immortality
2. eragons love for her
3. eragon leaving WITH the ELVES
this is the only statement that makes sense with the whole LOVE story part of the Novels. because eragon has to leave with the elves he and arya will be together. but i think roran will be the next rider and leave with them as well and leave all of algesai to be ruled by mortals. murtagh dies because eragon learns his true name and helps him to change. murtagh joins there cause and sacrifices himself to help eragon. that’s my theory.
This writer is SOOOOOOOOOOOO amatuerish. I mean, OMFG. I read the first two of the series, and was mildly hooked, but this third OMFG…….After the first chapter, i have been rooting for ALLLL the main characters to die. WTF was he THINKING!!!! Roran punished for winning a battle….impossible. There is no way in hell this would happen, this alienates me from his plot line, i no longer even semi believe in his characters. He mangles his narrative, painting Eragon as a weak runtling, incapable of even thinking far enough to get enough sleep. And for the excuse he has no time……HE HAS UNDERLINGS THE ENTIRE ARMY IS BEHOLDEN TO HIM. Im sure they could find a way to give their most important asset enough time to rest. And, he has no energy in his jewels……..WHY DOES HE NOT ASK THE ARMY FOR PEOPLE TO VOLUNTEER ENERGY>?????? There is a complete disconnect with his characters, they all deserve to die for their RAGING incompetence, I WANT A HERO, NOT A CRYING EMO VEGAN THAT CANT EVEN REST PROPERLY!!!!!
lol u ain’t a genius are u? roran’s case happened many times over irl… lol irrealistic … as for eragon… he just has to take a little too much energy and he won’t even have any ‘underlings’ left, remember he doesn’t like to take energy from living beings, shees so go and f*ck urself, writer amateurish? perhaps, u stupid?definately
its pathetic that i must answer this but ill live. 1. roran was punished for disobeying a dirrect order in america that results in a court marshal without exception 2. eragon is more than a warrior he is an icon if he got other people to do his work so he could sleep he would be seen as week then the rumors would start and by the time it got through the varden the rumor would have gone from hes tired to hes dieing from some horrible disease 3. drawing energy from others is a closely kept secret known only to riders (and arya but she is a special case) he wont even tell roran that he can do it and when you have a new york times best seller published then you can call him amateurish but until then do some research before you lecture us
Dude, Eragon isn’t a VEGAN. The definition of a vegan is someone who doesn’t eat meat or dairy produce, like eggs, milk, cheese, butter etc. but in one of the books it says ‘there were eggs – unfertilized in accordance with the elves’ beliefs’. Eragon is a hero. He saves Arya from a SHADE you idiot. With her help, he kills it, and with Eragon’s help, Arya also kills one in the third book in the chapter called ‘The Siege of Feinster’. He also doesn’t cry, unless something very bad happens, like Saphira comes inches away from death. The reason he can’t rest properly is that the faces of those he killed are on his consciense. This makes him a real hero to me. If the people he killed didn’t even cross his mind, he would be just as bad as Gallbotorix – the same person he’s trying to get rid of. I think it will end by Eragon bringing Gallbotorix to Nasuada (leader of the Varden) for her to decide what is to be done with him. I get this idea from the second book, where Eragon is called soft for not killing Sloan, but making him walk all the way to the land of the elves. When they cal him soft, he said that even if he had Gallbotorix at his feet, he would take him to Nasuada, not take it upon himself to become Judge, Jury and Executioner. Case Closed.
What if whatever they interviewed was just a joke? Maybe this leaving Eragon in manacles means something else, it’s been a while since Chris wrote about him, therefore, leaving him in manacles, just to get our attention. The theory about a character dying, that’s just useless fussing about it, for many people die in Chris’ series.
I’ve noticed that no one has givin a second thought about eragon’s mother. It wouldn’t be a hard stretch for her to fake her death and still be alive. Mabey she’s the character that will die. As for the last dragon rider, it seems like ronon is getting preped for something bigger. A dragon rider perhaps? …..
when’s it being released?
Hmm tortured and dying… sounds like the last 10 fantasy books i read.
Hmm tortured and dying… sounds like the last 10 fantasy books i read.
I thin it is related, Murtagh should die by Eragon’s hand for he promise to avenge Hrothgar’s death. Also, could it be that the Rock of Kuthian is where Morzan’s Castle is located, for when Eragon asked Oromis (Brisingr, “Two Lovers Doomed, pg. 607-608) “Where was Morzan’s Castle?” Oromis responded: “Is, not was; the castle still stands. Galbatorix uses it for himself now. It is situated among the foothills of the Spine, near the northwestern shore of Leona Lake, hidden well away from the rest of the land.” I believe this is where Galbatorix keeps all of the Eldunaris that had been on the Riders possession at Dorú Areaba, and those he was able to capture from the Riders that he and the Forsworn killed. I also believe it is where Galbatorix will imprison and torture Eragon until all seems lost and his power is insufficient (Solembum to Eragon, Book I) on Book IV. Thus, Eragon by calling upon all of the eldunaris with his name will be able to break Galbatorix hold and gain the strength to depose the Dragon King.
Im assuming everyone has forgotten about this, because i havent seen any comments about it, however i may be wrong:
If you remember Angela’s Prophecy, it said that Eragon would leave this land never to return. This could be that he dies, or it could be that he leaves Alagaesia, only CP knows for now. What im thinking is that his capture has something to do with this part of the prophecy. But then again, i may be wrong. We’ll just have to wait and see. 🙂
I believe that Eragon is captured by the werecats. Considering that werecats will be explored in the book. The character who dies will most likely be one of the 13 elves guarding Eragon.
due this guy is taking soooooo long to finish that book…..wtf. its been almost 2 years since Brisingr came out. come on. finish that thing already. dude wtf. publish that already. it was suppose to be 3 books. so the outline draft must have been done already. wtf is he writing so much or inventing new plots? this should have been publish this year or at the end of last year.
more inheritance books? i’ll be 100 if he goes at this rate for the next books.

galby might be searching for the true name of the ancient language remember. dont knowwhy but didnt razaca pointed it out. and wouldnt it make it to possible for galby to find eragons true name. maybe thats the reasons he is not coming out to fight
if you guys read about Eragon being tortured i have this to say, i think that it is the dwarves that are torturing him. if you remember in Brisingr one of the clans tried killing him. what im thinking now is that they have somehow captured him and they made a deal with galbatorix and are holding him prisoner for the king

Oh, and Doesn’t Galbortorix have another egg that needs to hatch.
Has CP actuallysaid that the green Dragon is the from the fourht egg? I mean, the wild dragons could still exist, living in the ocean or something, lol. About Kuthian, could Eragon be exiled to where the elves came from and then find the vault of souls? Oromis and Arya said it sounded familiar, like in a dream; the dragon pact could have given them some instinctual memories like the dragons have. Also, Saphira said that it sounded powerful. Anyways, powerful might mean it has to do with the grey folk.It never says that they lived in Alagaesia, does it? Another thing, the mountain Marna on the map- why is it marked? Could Kuthian be there? Lastly, ORIK CAN NOT BE THE NEXT DRAGON RIDER UNLESS THE DRAGON PACT IS EXPANDED TO ALLOW DWARVES!!!!!!!!!!!! Although, With Orik’s speech in Brisingr, He might well get the dwarves included. However, if Eragon leaves, Saphira leaves(unless she is killed), at which point all the remaining Riders might as well leave. However, Dragons are connected to Alagaesia, so that might effect her. Lastly, Could Alagaesia be a double continent like North America, so there are othercountries attached, and does Doru Areaba count as part of Alagaesia?
Is there going to be a name and date for this book soon?
that is interesting
One of the thirteen elves guarding Eragon dies.
Arya dies and all hope seems lost for Eragon.
Eragon gets captured by Murtagh …finally, …but Eragon works on his brother and together Murtagh’s name is changed.
Nasuada and Eragon end up together walking arm-in-arm, having discovered they are the love they’ve been seeking all along. Nasuada fits Angela’s prophecy of being noble, wise, powerful, and beautiful beyond compare.
Noble: Ajihad was a noble man who also raised and trained Nasuada. The book describes Ajihad as a noble man at his funeral. Her mother was of royal kinship in the Wandering Tribes.
Wise: Eragon himself described Nasuada as wise to King Hrothgar.
Powerful: She is Eragon Shadeslayer’s lord. She is the Warlord of the Wandering Tribes. She is the leader of the Varden. She is the Commander of the Allied Army in the war against Galby .
Beautiful Beyond Compare: There is no other ebony-skinned woman she can be compared to in Eragon’s site. Eragon compares Saphira, the most beautiful living creature in all of Alegaesia, to Nasuada.
Eragon also has a dislike for the use of certain magic. Eragon wanted to have Nasuada bannish Trianna for sorcery, but he was talked out of it in the camp fire scene. He also cursed magic right along with Nasuada when he didn’t get the cure spell perfect with Elva.
It’s nice how you come up with such an elaborate story just so you can troll on here!
…troll? … elaborate story ? The comments section was openned for theories. The article’s author stated his own “speculations” as well and made a note of disclaimer that he has NOT read the fourth book.
This is THEORY:

Do try and be a good sport, even when someone’s theory does not match your own theory.
Nice theory but thats not how its gonna go down.
How do you know?
you are forgetting that Eragon is supposed to leave the land of Alagaesia and never return but how could that happen if he ends up with Nasuada the ruler of the varden and expected new queen?
“…expected new queen…”
Nasuada becoming queen is speculation.
When Galbatorix is overthrown, there is no more purpose for the rebel Vardens.
I’m not entirely convinced that Nasuada will take over the throne of the Empire, I have a suspicion that Roran will. I’m having a hard time explaining my reason right now, you will have to pardon me for that considering its 5am.
I was thinking that the Eragon we know leaves forever because his true name changes (maybe because he kills Murtagh, or he purposefully does not fullfillhis oath to Orik). It very well may be possible that he doe not leave Alagaesia at all. Just a thought.
Well when he told oromis about the prophecy, oromis told him it would come true or it wouldnt, not to dwell on it. So maybe its all a fluke, and he wont have to leave alagaesia
Your forgetting that eragon had a vision of a couple arm and arm getting on a ship, with dragons overhead.
Couple = nasuada/eragon.
Dragons = saphira/thorn (assuming this is the end of the book, and murtagh is good by now)
You forget that Eragons true love was also meant to be a princess, and so far we havent been told that she is
“Eragon’s true love was also meant to be a princess…”
Not true… the book said the woman would be of noble birth and heritage… not royalty or the daughter of a queen or king.
Nasuada is of noble birth and heritage, because she was born to a noble father and raised by him…. on the “royal” side, however, her mother is of kinship to former Warlord Fadawar, which among the Wandering Tribes is a title of royal nobility. Nasuada is now Warlord of the Wandering Tribes. She busted down Fadawar to the title of Chief of the Inapashunna Tribe, which is still a title of nobility among them.
Am I the only one who thinks that Eragon may still have a chance with Arya? She is warming up to him, she expressed her feelings about Faolin and his death, and don’t forget that when she first met him she had just been tortured by Durza, and saw her companion die. Also once Galbratorix is killed, she will not have to worry about distracting him from his task.
Hmm but then Eragon can’t really die right. In Book 1 Angela read the dragon bones for him and said he would live forever or for a very long time. So there is no way Eragon can die in whatever that event is that CP is writing
but she also states that he will leave alagaesia forever. that doesn’t mean by flying away that could mean he dies. it could be a chice me has to make. die or leave forever. i just can’t wait to read about the dwarves amassing in battle with elves and a dragon rider flying overhead. no one would be safe.
Well, DragonMiracle here, I see, I see1 I would love to say, this a very nicley and professinal website. Could a thought acur that all this could be linked to Murtagh, and Thorn. We know they are physicaly stronger than Eragon and Saphira. it could lead back this because Eragon’s weakness is his inner consious and feelings. He, or I presume feels that Murtagh is good, and not truely dark and evil as we see him as. Could they have used this against Eragon?
Also I would like to say, we all pretty much know saphira will have an egg, but who, Thorn?
Has anyone thought that Galby might actually not be looking for a true name of a character, but actually the true name of the Ancient Language itself? This would give him enormous power, and though in the book it says that there has been people who have tried and failed, I would think that if anyone could do it, with all his resources, Galby could do it!
I do think that the green dragon will hatch to Arya, sometimes in book series like these, they want you to figure it out, it makes sense and absolutely nobody else could be considered a candidate without at least a hundred pages of explanation as to why that person was chosen, there is only one book left!
Eragon has alot of enemies, it could have been any one of them that were killed, I believe that two people are possible, either Murtagh himself has taken Eragon finally and they are wherever Murtagh has decided to hold Eragon.. Or the second option and the only one I could see with reason would be the Dwarves that swore a blood fude.
I believe that the “Vault Of Souls” is probably speaking about the Eldunari and where it is hidden would be by “The Rock Of Kuthian”. I’ve no speculation as to what the rock would be or its significance to anyone, including Galby, but the only person that Eragon’s power wouldnt hold up against would be Galby, so I think its safe to assume its him.
I believe that the character that was killed could possibly have been Angela, being as her part in the story is minimal, it would give the story a sad tone, and leave alot of mystery behind in the world of Alagesia. Or the second which would void who captured him, would be Murtagh, that Eragon killed Murtagh, and somebody captured Eragon.
again these are the only theories I have been able to deduce. 🙂 Atra Esturni Uno Thelduin
After this book, if CP does write any more books i will not be buying..For a book that should have been done with 3 i can’t belive that it has taken so long to finish the 4th (and who know’s when it will be done) He will not even put a time frame on it. 2 yrs and counting.sheees
CP estimated that he would hopefully have it done between june 2011 and june 2012

How do you know?
I have never written a book, but it seems that the original trilogy would have required a lot of planning before he actually started to write it. Therefore most of the ideas and plot should have already been outlined. therefore I can’t imagine that it will take him much longer to finish. Also in an interview he stated that he could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, lets just hope he means that he will finish in october and that editing will be complete by February.
just be glad he is not George R. R. Martin!
just be glad he is not George R. R. Martin!
Just depends on if you think it’s worth the wait. Not all authors can just write it out and BOOM it’s amazing. I think it will probably be worth the wait because he’s putting so much effort into it.
Now don’t everyone go jumping up and down on my throat saying he’s not that great a writer. Have YOU written a world-renowned series? No. So just shut up. I like his work. It helped inspire me to write my books, which I am taking my time to perfect so I can hopefully publish them someday and have literary critics all over the world either praising or dissing them… 🙂
Did you think that maybe the new rider could be Orik. It says that it has to be someone in all 3 books.
No, Orik can’t be because the bond between the dragons and the elves was only extended to humans. In the second or third book Orik says that he would never be at ease flying on a dragon.
that would be a nice change but don’t forget that the dwarfs have long preferred the mines and caves. They have also no tie to the deep magic used to link the elves and humans to dragons. If the ch was made though i would hope it would be Orik. I think though that it will be an elf, it would insure that the riders are not all human.

well CP, I can’t wait for next months interview. I appreciate it. I wonder who died…could be anyone. GOSH! Gimme some more information!
~ReaperAzrael
and bromfather, what is a dragonshade anyhow, you don’t mean a shade that happened to be a Rider do you? hope to guntura not. as if Eragon didn’t have enough trouble with galby
@silverscales-onthetrue name of Alageasia itself, galby would have to devote enourmis amounts of time taking History lessons(to know it’s life story) and even more time speculating on why these events happened, more time examining people pivotal toevery event in alagasia, thenexamining why those people did what they did. and since galby destroyed every empire copy of Domia Abr Wyrda (the dominance of fate), he’ll hve problems getting history lessons.Whew, never typed so much before.
You remember how he’s been locked away from 100 years? Plenty of time
by the way, sry for random replies 2 posts. i just made this account and won’t be able to check too often. When is that 4th book coming OUT?!?!?!?!?!?!*rips at hair*
God, I’m just stumped…
i agree with uguys on Eragon NOT getting imprisoned by varden. It’s logically insane to chain the one hope for Alageasia, so why did freohr post that??????? though SOMEONE should kill that ‘ tard galby, he’s annoying.
@traveleravi- Nar Gharzvog(NaG said to Eragon in Eldest that no ram{male urgal} would challenge Firesword(Eragon and now very fitting with his new blade fron Runon), and he would be welcome in their halls, as well as Flametongue(Saphira). so he could’nt be held in an Urgal Prison. at any rate, if anyone should be imprisoned, it should be that Drajl galby.
@CONOR- not to be rude, but when quoting a werecat, please quote word 4 word {when all seems lost and your power is INSUFFICIENT [not lost, sorry], go to the Rock of Kuthian and speak your name to open the vault of souls.
Well, if it ain’t Galby’s dungeon the Eragon’s in, there can’t be many dungeons left to look in. Maybe some like Islanzadi got pissed with him or something or if Eragon revealed Glaedr'[s eldunari, the elves would stamped and he would get squished 😛
I’m wondering where Saphira is…
Or maybe Galby HAS captured Eragon and has him in like Morzan’s castle with Murtagh babysiting him or something. I hope tha the person whi has died isn’t Murtagh. I’m praying Nasuada. But it can’t be Murtagh, what about Thorn?!?!?!?!?!
Hurry CP, I’m dying!!!!!!!
Doesn’t have much to do with the stuff about book four, but who else believes that the “Name” referenced by the Raz’ak while Eragon and Roran invaded Helgrind could be the true name if Alagaesia itself? Its a huge stretch to think about but it seems like a plan that Galbatorix would use given that he has such a talent at figuring out the true names of things.
Quote from the interview:
M: So we should be wary of any premonitions.
C: You should be very wary. I just killed a character in the manuscript, you know.
M: Oh geez…
C: Yeah, very bloodily. There were spikes involved.
M: Well, you left Eragon hanging bloodied off of hooks—
C: Manicles, not hooks!
the person that died dies from spikes. It has somthing to do with premonitions because cp states it randomly after a question about premonitions.
i know, eragon kills old galby, and after he kills that old fart, the varden knock him out or something and put him in manacles (not hooks xD), then says that Dragon Riders have become too powerful to stay in this land, and eragon must leave 🙂 its near the ending right? XD
God i hope not :l
NO! dude thats so not what happened! the varden has been training and counting on eragon to kill galbetorix, they wouldnt turture him for ridding the world of a tirant they all hate!!! thats soooo far of course! jeez….
im sorry but you are insane and dont make any sense.
Actually he has a valid point. I could see that happening. Because face it, People are afraid of power greater than what they have themselves.
im sorry but you are insane and dont make any sense.
yeah that probably what will happen. eragon and his dragon are just tools to get rid of galbotrix. predictable.
Hahahaha! That would be hilarious! And then they make Murtagh king, and he marries Arya because they’ve always had a secret mutual crush on each other and have five half-elf children. 😛
Murtaghs death, at Morzans old Castle…
just to point something out about eragon’s death. if you remember, in the first book, “eragon”, eragon’s meeting with angela consists of a fortune telling; one of the fortunes was that eragon would have an extremely long or eternal life. Not saphira (capable through her heart of hearts), meaning that, since eragon hasn’t even reached 20, he’s not going to die.
I hope its not anyone too important…. Maybe its Nasuada…. I hope its not Glaedr! He has gone through enough!
Gleadr died in Brisingr.
it could also be roran who dies
meybe mmmm murtag?
but what of Angela’s prophecy of him leaving forever…
it seems everyone is specilating on eragon being captured and someone dieing. there is one huge clue CP gives in the interveiws that (it would seem) everyone has forgotten. CP was asked if dragon-shades are possible and CP said ( I think ) wait for book 4/ no comment. I think what has Eragon trapped is a dragonshade. Also that this same dragonshade is probably controlling Galbatorix. It would be a huge plot twist that no one has thought of. This Dragonshade is probably where galbatorix and Morzan were hiding from the riders. Maybe the Vault of Souls? Also the topic of a character dieing, I think it is Galbatorix killed by the dragonshade. I think the two at the end of the book leaving will be murtagh and eragon. And as for the green dragon egg hatching for arya, I really don’t think so. That would make it to obvious. Thats all for now folks. Ta-Ta

And as for the green dragon egg hatching for arya, I really don’t think so. That would make it to obvious. Thats all for now folks. Ta-Ta
1. How can there be a dragonshade, if dragon’s cant perform a spirit summoning because they cant use magic?
UNLESS you think galby created one…but that still leaves the fact that a dragon is much stronger than a human so probably less susceptible to being controlled by a spirit,
UNLESS the dragon wanted to be, which i cant imagine he/she would.
I THINK that the above person may mean a Shade Dragon Rider….. That’s the only way I can understand what they are getting at….
Correction, they CAN use magic, just can’t control it. Maybe something could’ve happened that made them summon the shade, could’ve been distracted, and controlled. I dunno =-
The dragon could’ve been Galby’s? Or forced? Meh.
Remeber who wrote this………….it is too obvious….but not for this author. Eragon will marry Arya, it will happen. It is wtfbbq stupid, but it will happen.
@youdontknowme (Guest): Oh ya thats a good point! I never thought where Glaedr’s HoHs might be. Hmmmm. Maybe its captured too and he must escape with it. Like he did in Gil’ead only this time with Glaedr’s HoH instead of Arya

What! read brisingr again, the last couple of cahpters. Gleadr gives Eragon his h of h then flys of too battle where he and oromis both die.
@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 (Guest): I dont think she will die but might be harmed enough to give eragon the will to kill galby.

My theory is this:
Eragon is captured in Dras Leona while the Varden were attacking
Nasuada died and Eragon is now the leader…don’t know who killed her
Where is Saphira, Arya and Glaydr’s heart of hearts?

but he wasn’t captured in galby’s dungeon :/
@EternalShade (Guest):
yea, i know the chances of it are slim, but possible, If Galby had Solders around that witnessed the chain of events leading up to the time Murtah changed his name, he could simply reference the solders memory’s (or magician’s) and put the pieces of the puzzle together that caused his true name to alter, even slightly… now, the chances of that happening are pretty slim, being that its hard to follow murtah and thorn, and being out of ear shot, and even sight… but, it is possible. but Highly unlikely…
besides, i just like debating, and keeping people on there toes… 😉

@Jeriah (Guest): No because he (CP) said that Eragon isnt in being held in Galbatorix’s dungeon.

@PrettyBullet: Ya. but i dont think Galbatorix will have any idea how he changed though, rendering him uncapable of a decent guess.

I started hyperventilating the first time I heard the words “I just killed off a character very bloodily.” Makes me very excited. My theory is Eragon is captured by…oh, let’s say Murtagh and brought to Uru’baen, and is tortured by Galbatorix. And then I’m going to say it was Murtagh who was killed.

Roran dies, he’s to overrated and boring and eragon is trapped metaphorically in manacles i.e he wonder what he should do
has anyonethought that the killed character could be someone insignificant(sp?) like perhaps rorans urgal friend, or maybe even jormander. peopl get way too worked up about things that are probably insignificant (but, then again, if i read book 4 and it was someone like saphira or arya that’s dead, you guys will probably be the one criticizeing me :P)
@CP: I agree Roran is overrated and boring, but I personally think Paolini likes him too much to kill him. He has waaaay too much fun in those gory battle scenes. And, to quote him on the other thing: “I left Eragon hanging by his wrists in a dark, dark stone room with his shirt off and blood running from various wounds.” That sounds a little descriptive to be just figurative…in my opinion, anyway.
@Forfacebook: Sure, I’ve considered it being a minor character before. That’s probably most likely. But it’s always fun to consider various scenarios. If I sat down and thought about it, I could probably imagine the entire possible torture scene for Eragon in my head…it would involve Galbatorix and his crazy evil magic. Whoever it is who dies, I’m sure it’ll be an exciting scene. 🙂
but later on in the this article it says CP comfirmed that it was not galbatorix who had Eragon captive.
@EternalShade (Guest):
i didnt mean his true name was one word, i ment it as saying changing his true name could be as simple as changing one word in a phrase, or paragraph, not the whole name, just part of it. Did that make better since? 😉

@PrettyBullet: What makes you think that Murtaghs name is so simple to be one word?? Sloans was even more than that. Murtagh is more complex than him even. It wont be that simple

I really can’t wait to read that book!
I believe the name Galby is looking for is the name of the AL, and I’m pretty sure that Murtagh somehow will end up at the good side and then dead… But it is all speculations, and I try not to think of i so much, it just makes me longing even more for the book…

i hope Murtagh don’t die he is an awesome person to read.
I dont think Murtagh dies…I think he’ll end up in the good side and hit it off wit Nasuada!
It has already been hinted in the other books that they like each other….
Hes copying starwars here……….the empire……emperor palpatine(Galby)…..Darth Vader…..(Murtagh)….Obi Wan Kenobi(Brom) who is actually Eragons father *gasp* NOT…Without doubt Murtagh will help to kill Galby/Bobba Fett spinoff. The name Galby is looking for will be dropped out of the final text, like the chicks in the third book Eragon blesses. Or, it will be completely incnsequential, like it being Eragons name so that the scene where Palpatine interrogates Luke can be recreated, and Darth Vader(Murtagh) can force lighting him down a shaft.
Oops, i meant to say manacles.

I think Angela might die, or atleast have a hand (good or bad) in eragon being in shackles. She always does seem to be at the height of interest in the books.

ok i think a lot of you guys and girls read fanfiction and have been getting them mixed
ok we all THINK murtagah and natasha love each other but their has been no definite proof of this thinking of that maybe murtagah did change his true name what if eragon has to kill a member of the varden protecting his half brother (im thinking a dwarf orin or Jormundur they all have reasons Jormundur to protect natasha the dwarfs for hothigor and orin for the same reason as Jormundur
or maybe somone eragon was protecting died
maybe someone took over his mind
maybe he killed murtagah and the was taken captive
also think of what city he could be in only the bigger citys on the map would have dungons think about if its empire controlled or not with leaves ethier festiner or possibly beltona (after they take it) if the varden jailed him or one of the like 3 citys controled by the empire
or possibly it has somthing to do with the werecats

@EternalShade (Guest):
dont count that out just yet, think, changing ones true name could be as easily as only one word, where the rest is the same, so then its only finding that one word or phrase. (true names more like a complex
sentence) so say the word that changes is vengeance, and instead turns to compassion, if galby can figure out the chain of events that caused it to change he might be able to figure out simply which part, or phrase to revise. i could be wrong, but that makes sense to me

i think that murtag will capture eargon and than turn on Gallbatorix. I also think that eragon murtag and the third dragon rider will team up and distroy Gallbatorix together.

Alright; here’s my speculation: Murtagh and Thorn change something about themselves and therefore their True Names change. Now they are scheming with Eragon and Saphira to kill Gallbatorix, kind of a double agent thing, inspired by good old mom, Selena.

I find it very funny that Eragon managed to get captured and tortured because he is so powerful since he has gleadr’s Eldurni. And I think you are wrong “Paolinifan54”, do you remember what Brom said in the book Eragon, who ever posses the secret name of the ancient language will control it along with all who speak it. If you have any theories or if you think im wrong than you can find me on facebook or email me at dragonriders@hotmail.com. i have more theories than this. such as the next battle between Eragon and Murtagh in the next book, this was in the book brisingr, i know it is going to happen because Christopher Poilini hinted at it in Brisingr.

Of cOurse, yes Galbatorix is excellent at finding true names and he COULD POSSIBLY do it. But i dont believe that he has enough intimate knowledge about them to do it. And i dont think Murtagh really knew Eragon so well, plus a persons true name might change over time and Eragon has changed enormously since the first book.
And about the Menoa Tree, yea i agree with you it would be a very important true name, but i think its pretty the same as finding the true name of nature, which is along the sides of finding the true name of the ancient language.
Lastly, i have a quick input: I believe that maybe CP might put a twist in the story and instead of a love romance, it would become a tragic love story. Such as: Eragon and Arya will try to be together but the third egg will hatch to another woman(Im not going to make guesses). And since remember the love emotions of dragons would rub-off onto their riders too, Eragon and this Woman would kind of be forced to become this womans partner because Saphira would mate the womans dragon. And so these two leave on the ship, but arya is the one left on the island crying because she has once again lost her love.
Also, i know that some people think that Roran would be the person crying and wailing behind the ship, but really, i dont believe Roran is that kind of person. Roran is very practical, and thus i think he would accept the fact Eragon was leaving and feel saddened but not enough to wail and cry as the person on the land is.
Last thought, i agree that Galby is looking for the AL true name, and had though Eragon would find it in the VOS. But now i think Eragon will find his own true name in the VOS where he is held by manacles. Or maybe the mancles are just a metaphor and Eragon’s “soul” or “mind” in the VOS is being held by manacles.
Sry for long post. Just had stuff on my mind.

Nice theory and all and an original idea, but it can’t be. For one thing, the person on the beach was a man, it says so in the passage and I like to see some originality here instead of the same theories being put forth again and again. 😉 Arya could do her “plastic surgery” thing again to become a man but I dunno why she would do that…
But like, Eragon is the only family that Roran has left from his farming life (excluding Katrina) but just imagine that you are Roran and you were saying goodbye to your cousins who seems like a brother to you because of all the years you have spent together. I would be pretty angry if he came up to me and said he was leaving forever and he would never see you again. BUT maybe the man isn’t howling from loss, maybe it’s anger (?)
ARGH!!!!!! I WANNA READ BK IV SO BAD!!!!!!!!!!
That could be true. Roran does not seem like that kind of man, but what kind of good person wouldn’t cry if they had just lost the love of thir life? Maybe Katrina was the person that got killed and Roran is howling from his loss of his beloved, and, as BWD says, he now also has to say good-bye to Eragon forever? What type of person wouldn’t be blown away from the fact that they have just lost their spouse and must now also say fairwell to the only family they have?
finaly, someone who knows what he’s talking about. i agree that the vos is in the hadarac desert and is originaly a setlment for dwarves, but i have a differen’t idea about some of it’s………….thingy mabobers………….yeah, so 1st of all, i think that kuthian is the name of one of th foresworns dragons because most of the elves eragon asks about it say it sounds farmiliar but they can’t recal any details about it.2nd i think that the place were the rok is lokated was originaly a dwarvish settlement, but was over run by dragons before the elf/dragon war. saphira herself said the hadarac was the ideal place for a dragon to live(if there was enough water) and i think the anciant dragons used it to store their eldunari(which don’t need water to exist). you may be wondering what a foresworn rider has to do with this, i think that one of the foresworn found this place and named it after his dragon, but the poor fool was killed by another foresworn before he got a chance to use the eldunari for his unknown purpose.also, i believe that the hadarac desert would be the perfict place to hide a stash of eldunari because humans rarly venture into it.on a sepperate topic, the people who think eragon will mary nasueda, are imbiciles, she already mentioned that a marriage between king orin & her would be beneficial, however,if she did marry orin and she and eragon had an afair,i’m sure the surdans would hang aragon in manacles for that. however, CP said eragon was in a STONE ROOM not dungeon which makes me think if dwarves, not surdans.
PS- sorry for the long comment, i’m just tired of people saying random theiories
nice theory but i dont think that the rock is located in the mainland…..and thats because oromis would have found it,he did mentioned in the second book that he was searching the hole country with his mind for hidden eldunari…
and about the character that dies/killed by eragon, i think the person is Roran
for one your dumb. eragon would never kill Roran
and also Eragon did not even know about the Eldunari until the third book. Re read the books you might actually learn something!
Thats true! cause remember the dwarves that put the hairs on the ring and threw it at eragon? maybe they finally got ahold of him and are “punishing” him for becoming a “dwarf”… mind you i’m sure Eragon could hold his own against dwarves with his sword Brisingr.. so Idk..
Perhaps the character that is klilled is galbatorix and the dungeon belongs to eragorn’s brother…after all two people leave the island forever….If a rift opened between the true king (Eragon’s brother?) and the dragon riders then the future king would want to consolodate power and rid himself of the remaining dragonriders so that the land will be underneath one ruler himself? After all the populace would be afraid that the dragon riders may give spawn to another galbatorix and they would want to avoid that?

@Heyaa (Guest): you ask why galbatorix would want to know the menoa trees name? Du weldenvarden is probably the most impenetrable place in alagasia. it has incountable wards protectng it. the menoa tree is essentially in control of the entire forest. it has roots connecting with nearly every other tree there. If Galby could figure out its true name, then no place in alagasia would be safe from him. To take away the elv stronghold would destroy the moral for everything that resists him. the elves home would lie in ruins, and no place would be safe. and you wonder why he might want the menoa trees true name? also, he could easily learn about the nature of eragon and others through murtaghs memories and experiences. granted, though, he would have trouble finding out there true names, i do not believe it would be completely impossible for him. and this just occured to me, what if he did find out nasuadas true name, and no one but eragon and a few select characters realized it. nasuada with the unwitting help of the varden might be able to capture eragon. he could have ended up killing her and then he felt hopeless because the varden was no more, and then he finds the vault of souls. im probably just sounding stupid, but hey, it could happen! 😀

@Smoke. Wow thats a very original idea Smoke of the spine being Bed’Daum. Or atleast thats what i think Eragon’s first dragons name was. But really, it has no “spine” to it. Lol, such a random pun.
First off, maybe a dragon COULD be as big as a mountain if it lived that long. But could a dragon really be soo patient and lazy to just sit around in 1 single spot and never ever move. I mean nature takes over it slowly, and creates waterfalls, etc… I very much doubt that a dragon would accept such a pitiful life when their such majestic creatures in the air. Plus where would such a big dragon get all of its food and, lets say the dragon did rise from its slumber against the odds and kill galbatorix’s men, dont you think that would cause an enormous earthquake someone wouldve noticed or atleast some parts of the dragon wouldve been uncovered.
Also, just to give it a good rest, we know for SURE that a dragon as old as
Though i commend ur innovativeness and perspective, i must say that there is absolutely no chance that even a dragon as old as Bed’Daum would be that big. Lets look at Glaedr, we know that Glaedr was one of the elders of the elf race and one of the dragons who has been around pretty close to the start of the riders. Now Glaedr is veryy large. But lets see, a mountain as big as spine would easily be atleast a hundred thousand times bigger than Glaedr. Now, i seriously doubt that the time difference is even close to this long.
@Paolinifan54, all the names you listed for Galbatorix trying to find the true names of are either very unlikely or impossible since how would Galbatorix even know most of those people enough to get their true names.. the Menoa Tree is maybe the only thing Galbatorix has a chance of finding the true name of, but i see no reason y he would.

Do not worry I done talking about it here, so you don’t have to tell me to stop Mike.

@PrettyBullet: I accept your sorry. . .I did not mean to use this place, to talk about my Dyslexia, or to make any one else mad at me, for doing so. I know that I am to only talk about the topic at hand. Nevertheless, I was just so happy to have at long last, found someone who is like me, and who has suffered as much as me, that I forgot to only talk about the topic at hand. Only FYI PrettyBullet, I. . .have. .suffered far worse then I care to say online, or here. If however, you would like, me to comtinue takling to you as I do not have any friends. . .I would be happy to. .only could I have your mailing address. As I do not have E-mail. This way we could talk about Dyslexia, and things, and also, this way, I will not make anyone else, mad at me. I am a very shy person. By the way, since you told me yours. . .I live in Elmira Ontario, Canada. It is farm country. And I also am a adult, and I also am proud to be who I am. Well let me know. and once again I am sorry for going off topic and, yes! I know that this has nothing to do with the topic at hand!

I also believe that Eragon’s Dragon, the first Eragon, is actually the Spine. That is why it is so dangerous for Galby to go their and also why he lost so many men the first time. Remember, Dragons never stop growing, so one might think that a dragon that has been alive since the beginning of the Riders might be the size of a mountain. Just another thought. I can’t write very well but I can come up with a story.

Not many people would be strong enough to capture Eragon and manage to hold him captive.

i have a simple question, first who said that eragon had to be in a dungeon to be hanging bloody from manicle’s, not every situation where he would be hanging from manicles is in a dungeon. he could be in just about any situation you could think of where he is hanging from manicles. just a thought but so far CP’s righting has been outside the box and most of the theories that people have been comeing up with are limited to eragon beeing in a dungeon. so how about we come up with some theories where he isn’t in a dungeon.
i do like the outside the box thinking of it being the 1st eragon, and i could totally see CP teasing us with it.

of course there are many true names that could prove useful, but of all the true names of an ancient language, which one would be the most powerful? –> the name of the language itself! It would mean absolute control over everything, galby wouldn\’t need anything else…
And considering the actual situation Eragon is in… doesn\’t it seem desperate to you? like \”all seems lost\” I\’d say he\’s quite close to finding the vault of souls – or is already there and has been captured by some protector… and hasn\’t yet said his name…

You know, if Eragon is indeed captured and there has been time for a character to be killed and him tortured, then can we speculate that maybe the character that was killed was Saphira?
Well, if he’s not in Galbatorix’s dungeon, could someone have framed Eragon for a serious crime and the Varden have locked him away? But they wouldn’t torture him, nless Nasuada was overthrown. He could also be in Gil’ead[sp?] or even somewhere totally new. Also, the character killed could be anyone; Murtagh, Thorn, Solembum, Angela, Nasuada, Arya, or even the new rider? We can’t forget the green rider, and who says that green rider is working for the Varden? If the egg is in Glabatorix’s posession, then it could mean another antagonist.
Just another thought, perhaps the *werecats* are evil?

@Smoke: well, its good that you got into reading. as much as i hate to admit it, more often than not, people dont read as much as they should, especially kids. Apparently no one has the time for it anymore. they just dont get that there are some things in books that no type of movie can portray. can you set down a brand new movie, do whatever you have to do, and then pick it up were you left off? no. can you take a movie with you everywhere you go? no. can a movie express thoughts, feelings, and multiple points of view without confusing the viewer? no. but i digress. i will have to see if i can go to a library soon to look at those books. somethings better than nothing, right?
(PS) no thought is a dumb thought. if you can think att all, you can have no dumb thought. its all relative. compared to a rock, an ameba is like stephan hawking. but, unfortunately, you are definitely wrong about your thought. in the beginning of brisingr, thee raazac states that Galbotorix is close to finding the true name. why would galbatorix want to get rid of all his power? i believe that he is probably trying to figure out the true name of 1. Eragon
2. The Menoa Tree
3. the last dragon egg
4. Nasuada
5. Saphira
6. and last but not least, Izlanzadi.
I believe that he would want to know these true names because they all have great power, they all have a close relationship with Eragon, and if he could learn even 1 of their true names, he could essentially end the war at any time.to tell the truth, unless they seperate galv. from his eldunari, he could already do that anyway. personnaly, i dont think that CP would have him figure out eragons true name, simply because it would be kind of obvious.

@paolinifan54 (Guest): I liked the sword of truth series. The Song of Fire and Ice is ok and The first few wheel of time books are good. I am open for suggestions too. I am just about to read the Inheritance books again, I don’t mind, but i would like something new while I am waiting. And I will tell you why I think Paolini is a good author. I was not interested in reading until I read Eragon. Now I can’t get enough of reading, I have read 9 complete series in the past 4 years, I like to listen to the audio while I am driving and working. Paolini changed my perspective on reading.

wat if erigon in traped in the dongen of his mind coz hecased some bad spell unlikly but think it cood hapen if it does theo it whod be soo cool maby hehad roran inthare whith him
I just had another thought, this one is probalbly a dumb one. What if the name that needs to be found is what describes the Eldunari. You could release all the eldunari under galby’s control weakening him.

That an awsome idea
so, unless you read the book after everyone else, you wont have to worry about spoilers.
(PS) i cut of the post into 2 parts so that it wouldnt seem too long
(PPS) Anyone have any suggestions on a good book i could read? preferably not a kids book? i have read harry potter, eragon (of course :D),percy jackson and the olympians vladimir todd (waiting for next book), pendragon, the missing, among the shadows, cirque du freak, the hunger games (MOCKINGJAY!!!), and when i became desperate, twilight. any suggestions?

hey if you like sci-fi then you would enjoy the starwars books written by Timothy Zhan, or if you like halo those books are very good as well
@Heyaaa(Guest) (Guest): well, that what speculation and theorizing is. trying to figure out what will happen in the next book on sights like this raise anticipation of the book and add to the excitement when the book is finally released. the fact that CP can get millions of people speculating like we are now is a sign that he is a great writer, and that he struck on a successful story. even now, i constantly re read his books over and over and over again. the fact that i can do so without getting bored is another sign that he’s a good author. And so what if they nail it? if they do, you wont know until you read through the book, and until you finish the book, you probably wont even notice that they were correct until you remenisce about it. Think about it this way, you will be reading it, and even if you notice that so far the events in the story have been according to some predictions, you will never know if they slip up in the next part. does that quell your thoughts somewhat?

Something just quickly hit me now too. On Eragons hopelessness meaning Saphira had to die i already commented about it being improbable. But what if, Saphira and Eragon were instead seperated?
Then what could cause this seperation? Here i believe that most likely Eragon faced Galbatorix and was going to die but Saphira as a dragon probably did some intense sudden magic or just plain out used brute force to give Eragon an opening to escape.
Just another random thought, if Eragon is hanging in manacles then he should easily be able to escape through the use of magic or maybe even force. So, what can stop Eragon from using magic? Well, maybe as many of you sepculate Tenga(Or the First Eragon) could be holding him. CP wouldnt have randomly just added Tenga into the story without reason.
Or Eragon could be getting threathened that if he tries to escape Saphira will be killed.
OR my favorite theory, maybe CP is just being very witty with us and trying to trick us by saying Eragon is hanging in manacles??? BUT WHICH Eragon, may i ask??? Could it possibly be that the very 1st Eragon is in captivation and that somehow our very own Eragon is suppose to save him? Maybe this is what the vault of souls is.
Eh, i give up. Im not going to bother making theories again. Im also actually afraid that through all this rambling one of us is going to nail it and gonna ruin the story for us. :D.

@Paolinifan54, i think that Menoa Tree idea of yours is very probable and i do believe that it will play a big role in the 4th book.
The possibilities with the Menoa Tree are endless however, and we shall only see in the upcoming book, because its too vague as of yet.
Also just to quickly add my own comment about the romance of the story, i do not see any other path but that of Eragon and Arya. As another commenter has said, all that foreshadowing and suspense that has been built would be completely ruined.
As another commenter said about the ancient language true name being learned. Now that the idea has hit me, I believe is very probable, because as the Razac stated at Helgrind, he is very close to finding the true name… but the Razac wasn’t able to specify. So what could possibly be the TRUE true name? the Ancient Language’s true name. I dont no how itll play out, but it most definitely will.
Also about another commentator said that Saphire would have to be dead for Eragon to open the Vault of Souls because thats the only way he would feel hopeless. Well, i have to disagree for a couple of reasons.
First, we see from the dreams or premonitions, whatever they are. That two dragons leave Alagaesia with the boat. Now, if Saphira died there is died there would still be Thorn, Shruikan, and the last egg. But lets remember that Saphira is the only female dragon left, and that the last egg was continually emphasized on being a male. Now, this could always change but i doubt Saphira will be the one to die. Though i was seriously say that the story would be much more interesting if Saphira did die… more so that theres more hurt than anything else. Plus this way he’d be following Broms line. Which would be eerily coincidential, since Saphira died with Brom too.
My second reason for Saphira not having to die is that Eragon has felt hopeless and lonely before with Saphira, such as when the Razac first came to Carvahall and killed Garrow when Eragon and Saphira were flying. Also many times when Eragon was in his time of being a cripple from his injury he kept losing hope in himself.
But i believe the commen consensus to be that Eragon will face Galbatorix and somehow get away from the first confrontation and possibly by the help of someone else who died in the process. And maybe when he gets away he will be captured and from there… nevermind… its impossible to no… Sry for the long post…. Cya.

if you remember Brom didn’t give Ajihad rule when Nasuada was anointed they said that it had been 15 years since they last had to pick a new leader after Deynor death… it really has nothing to do with it but it was kinda bugging me that everyone kept thinking Brom gave leadership to Ajihad

oh, and chestershirecat, i have to agree with everyone else on this one. I find it difficult imagining eragon with nasuada, especially since he swore an oath of fealty to her. i think it would be akward at best if they were together, and it would be difficult for Paolini to justify such a thing. It is an intruiging idea though. you certainly got everyone else talking!
(PS) call me a hypocrite, but i was asking that because i wanted to hear theories about things that arent talked about as much. everyone is mostly talking about love stories when there are so many other things that havent been tossed around much.

@Bigred28655 (Guest): I had also considered the possibility of the Menoa tree sending him away from alagasia, among many other things, but i do think that this is the most likely out of many of my theories. There are so many things unresolved though, its impossible to decide what will lead to what, where this is, and how to do this. SOOOOOOO many things unanswered that CP needs to address, I sicerely hope that the book comes out soon!
PRETTYBULLET- i wasnt actually reffering to the dungeon in the post, i was merely trying to get people thinking, especially since i didnt see any posts about the menoa tree, but then again, i havnt been on this sight very long. Now, about the “took his soul” part, i highley doubt that. But, of course, i really cant say. your guess is as good as mine. Until the new book is released, all we can do is speculate.
Anyone else have theories about the menoa tree, vault of souls, eragons mystery dungeon, or just any loose ends, really.
(PS) prefferably no comments on love interests. i know some people find it interesting, but i am really curious to hear your views on the big storyline, not who’s dating who. but thats jut me. 😛

Arva was also the origonal owner of the sword tamerline. how does the website know that, that information was never released by cp was it?

it is said that when all seems lost that eragon should go to the rock of kuthain and shout his true name to the vault of souls but what would make all seem lost to eragon for as long as saphira is alive eragon will be happy but if she dies or is captured i think all will be lost for eragon

Chestershirecat, it’s common sense. CP went out of his way to obviously show in book 3 that Arya’s coldness to Eragon has faded, all their best scenes together- the shade killing and Eragon holding her when she cried at the end- all that is in place setting up a romance in book 4. It’s been set up since book 1. Anyone who knows basic novel writing knows Eragon and Arya will end up together.

Chestershirecat, it says beautiful beyond compare, Eragon has stated that Arya is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. There has been zero foreshadowing of Eragon and Nasuada ever beong more than friends. You need to accept that Eragon/ Arya is going to happen, it’s CP’s version of Aragorn/ Arwen.

There was some…if just a little foreshadowing, of a possible romance between Eragon and Nausauda in book three when Eragon is going to his surprise party with Nausuda…however I think it’s very unlikely and will still end up with Arya…it’s just that if it is nausuda then I wouldn’t be totally shocked

I know it’s unlikely to happen, but I think the Empire is too large. And Roran And Nasuada are both good leaders. They should split it, somehow. Carvahall could become capitol. 😛

As for the epic romance in Eragon’s future, I am hoping it is not just referring to Roran and Katrina. Yes their romance is epic, they are decedents perhaps of the mad king. Also the fact that the Death fast approaching referred to Brom, the betrayal Murtage, could lead one to think that the epic romance was not necessarily referring to Eragon.
I am a hopeless romantic I guess, and I doubt anyone could miss Arya becoming increasingly attached to Eragon in Brisinger. She initiated contact more then once. Shoot they even now share the title/last name Shadeslayer lol… jk. Arya is shown to be a character that has had a romantic past with those she has fought with. Yes she is 100, but she is also a rebel in her taking the Yawe, I doubt she will follow social norms.
I think the main reason for her being the “epic romance†is she was the first character shown in that light for Eargon. A slight hint for the possibility of it was when Oromis said of Arya that even if she had romantic feelings for Eragon she would not act upon them as he needs to be focused. I think CP is allowing Arya to reveal her feelings slowly.
Nasuada’s character is very straight forward, in how she has progressed. The vardan and the people come first. CP shows her as a mover and a shaker, a master manipulator, and all personal feelings are secondary to what needs to be done. Her own words say as much. She is shown to have considered a marriage with King Orrin just to strength her position for the betterment of the varden. Trail of long knives, Whipping Post, and other instances show her as a mostly none romantic character, but a deceive leader. I think Eragon sees her as a sister, and she sees him as a brother. CP might throw a curve ball, but I see him loving a strike with Arya.
There can be no third option for Eargon. As the fourth book is the last of the story it is highly doubtful that a new character would show up. (Warning about to make someone angrier then just about reading a long post.) Rarely is the secondary option for romance taken in literature. A recent example is in the Twilight series only a moron would have thought Jacob would be the one. The first character cast in a romantic light for a main character is often THE ONE. Yes I have sinned in speaking the name of Twilight may Guntera forgive me.

@bluefighter (Guest): Oops. Sorry… I relized this several minuites after I posted it.
ChestershireCat- Nasuada cannot give part of the Empire back to the Broddring Kingdom, because they are the same thing.
PrettyBullet- Though this shall incur the ever-pursuing ire of Mike… I myself live in Indianapolis, Indiana, and I have what is known as Asperger Syndrome.
DarkKnight- From my understanding, all of the text in it was written by CP.
Jim- Angela could not say whether the romance would end for good or ill; I feel that he has already had his romance with her.

@paolinifan54 (Guest):I am thinking that the Menoa tree, aka the crazy elf nut Linnea, will require Eragon to leave Alagaesia, She hates fire and therefore Dragons Saphria‘s trespass will not be forgiven. I do not see pity or forgivness in Linnea’s nature.
I thought that perhaps the transformation that took place during the blood oath ceremony may have given Eragon a little more then the body he had. I thought that he my have his one little Eldunari and that is what the tree took when he felt a twinge of pain in his stomach. But hey that is just another screwed up idea of many.

I was wrong… Inheriwiki.com.
Her mother was royalty, not her father. Her mother was the cousin of the chief of the (too long of name) tribe. Blood family, which means royalty.

forgive me, i dont remember that, i guess im wrong…..
@ChestershireCat (Guest): being the leader of a group dosent make you noble. the Term nobel in the timeperiod the books are set in refers to Kings and Queens and their children, not leaders of a rebel militia. if that were the case we may as well consider the leader of every terrorist group in history “nobel.” also even if this wernt the case, Nasuada’s father wasnt the leader of the varden when she was born. in fact she wasnt even born with the varden, but was brought there as an infant by her father. sorry, but your theory really has no leg to stand on

He led for 15 years, my apologies.
But, ah, here is my proof!
However, it is revealed that she was born in the Empire and that her mother was a cousin of Sagabato-no Inapashunna Fadawar, a sovereign Warlord over many tribes now deposed of his crown and scepter to just being chief of the Inapashunna Tribe
Her mother was royalty. Not her father.

@PrettyBullet:
that why no one knows about her mother… no one at the varden ever met her mother, (prob died in child birth) but i insit its there…

she was a infant, i cant rememeber which book it in, but i rememeber her telling eragon (i think, but i remember reading it) that her and her father came to the varden to take refuge, then brom handed it over.. im sure if you look around for it you will find it.. (i think its prob in the 2nd book, after her father was killed…)

This helped a lot. Brom founded the Varden 70 years before Nasuada was born. If you remember in the third book, Oromis said that Brom only briefly led it, then passed it on to someone else so he could kill the Forsworn. Then that person passed it onto Ajihad. I think I read somewhere in the first book that Ajihad had led the varden for thirty years? But I no longer have the first book. I’ll look it up to see details.

@PrettyBullet:
The timeline is very unclear in the books because it goes by seasons and not months. As far as I know, Brom handed it over to Ajihad after he had arrived, because they were friends. Then Nasuada was born. She is only sixteen or seventeen.
I noticed how young the characters are! Katrina is sixteen in the third book! They consider manhood 16.

yes true and true, but she isnt of Nobel birth, she was just a infant when her and her father came to the varden, she wasnt born with her father as the leader, so Nobel birth isnt possible. Brom handed over leadership AFTER her and her father took refuge there….

if tunga is eragon the first then what is the answer he seeks and i can dimly recall tenga saying that they seek the same thing and at that time eragon had just talked to the razaac about the name galbatrox is trying to find so that is what he would be thinking about and tenga does also say that they were slightly differnet so that could me he seeks the true name as well

We’ve already seen her act more of friend to Eragon than as his liege. She hugs him, walks arm-in-arm with him, and hosts parties for him. She doesn’t like magic, for sure, but she certainly like Eragon. And he’s said it himself, he’s more comfortable in her presence than any other womans.

“An epic romance is in your future, extraordinary, as the moon indicates – for that is the magical symbol – strong enough to outlast empires. I cannot say if this passion will end happily, but your love is of noble birth and heritage. She is powerful, wise, and beautiful beyond compare.”
The moon is a magical symbol… It doesn’t mean the person is magical themself. It could mean a strong love with Nasuada. Nasuada is also powerful (A queen), beautiful, and wise (She doesn’t lie, and she can bring together an entire army, even with Urgals)
Noble birth and heritage… Her father ruled the Varden, and so does she. That makes her fit noble birth AND heritage.

Why is it no one remembers that eragon has an exetremely powerful enemy, possibly more powerfull than galbatorix, who wants Compinsation? Does no one but me remember the tree that protects the elves? i think that This tree may play a huge role in the storyline. Chris made a big point out of it, and if the tree is what gave eragon something so important (no spoilers here, for the benefit of the misinformed), dont you think it will be a major factor?

im with you pretty much till elva, i think she has to much hate in her heart to be the next rider, but any way,
i think like you on the 1st eragon, i think he is alive too!! and i didnt even think about the “shiny palm” not being on him, and 2ndly, i didnt even think about magic!! you made a really good point!! maybe eragon shoult go to the stone of the dwarfs that saphria (sorry bout spelling) fixed, i personally think thats the VOS.. that still dosnt mean the dwarfs know about it, but could be part of explaining why that one dwarf spent so long taking his care in making it, and even dying when finishing.. thats what i think….lol

yes, but brom hid his for how long?? b4 eragon even took notice, and thats only cause Brom showed him on his death bed, then why couldnt Tenga?? i mean, he was working in the garden, in the dirt any way… Isn’t that how brom hide his? or am i mistaken? thats only a idea, and one i dont hold too creditable, i believe the 1st eragon is alive, but i think he might be in the VoS.. besides, if he died, you would think there would be written recored on it, which its been stated there isnt, and i think thats cause he isnt dead… LOL

And honestly, im proud to be who i am, and think the way i do.. if you want to talk more about it, or more about the book, i invite any who wants to im me, my AIM name is PrettyBullet83, (dont worry mike, Im a adult and i welcome the company people on here may offer in the form of convo) now, i will go back to talking about the book and will do as Mike asked and not talk about it any more, Sorry mike…

ChestershireCat , Eragon and Arya would ruin the books ? What planet are you on ? Eragon and Arya getting together has been heavily implied since book 1, after all that Eragon/Arya stuff in all the books having them not get together would be the most anti climatic idiotic thing possible, that would ruin the books because then we will have read all that development and interraction between them all for nothing. It’s going to happen so if you hate the idea that much I suggest you don’t read book 4… because Arya is the only girl who fits the prophecy Angela read to Eragon in book 1.

@XxxX (Guest): well if the dragons chose roran, they would be incredibly cruel, as well as poetic. Roran’s becoming a rider would make him immortal, while the thing he loves most in the world, Katrina is not. he would be forced to live all eternity without her, which would be a truely cruel fate

You know whAT I don’t like Arya either. She’s a terrible charecter, but Roran does work. Multiple reasons why.
The entire stenr risa thing set up between him and Eragon has yet to surface and it set up a teacher relationship thing between him and his cousin.
Also the sword Tameralin’s style is one that suits Roran hacking at poeple’s limbs style. And one last thing Dragon’s are poetic creatures picking Roran would signify the three powrful relatives, Murtagh, Roran, and Eagon being the next Riders.
Think of Eragon’s grandfather on Selena’s side, he must be so proud of his Grandchildren. all Dragon Riders. 😀
Actually I think that deserves a triple 😀
PS
Murtagh is the MOST beastly charecter in the series.
I think we can all agree on that. Triple 😀

The next rider could be elva, but you cant base that off of the fact that in Guide to Alagaesia Eragon gave her anything. it was written by someone elese that wasnt CP so i wouldnt take that as a fact for book 4.

@Bigred28655 (Guest):Ok well lets put it this way if people remember correctly Arya mentioned to Eragon that although she is not neccesarily the heir to the throne since their customs are freedom to the people to choose their own paths. Another thing is that Eragon can never die if he is to fullfill the profecies given to him. Third thing is it would be amazing if Arya was the last rider. Furthermore it would be awsome if Arya and Nasuada were to keep Mortagh busy while Eragon would finally kill Galbatorix. Finally Yes Eragon should defeat Galbatorix and free Shruiken, Thorn and Mortagh from his spell. ooh and if you think about it Thorn and Misery is not what Mortagh is giving his Enemies but himself for swearing loyalty to be on Galbatorix’s side

Here is what I think SHOULD happen, not what will, necessarily.
People who Die:
Islanzadi: She is one of the old leaders, and it seems every leader is dying, leaving the young to lead. Inheritance cycle, afterall. Thus Arya will become the new Queen.
I doubt Orrin will die because he is still young. This point is mentioned a few times in the books.
I think Thorn will die. The dragons are coming to an end, after all. And Thorn is stunted in his head due to the meddling of Galbatorix.
Next Rider?
I’m stuck on this. I think it may be elva. A girl would even the odds and she is young, and knows nothing about being a Rider. That is why in “Guide to Alagaesia” Eragon left her the soul of Glaedr. To teach her. And so far we have had all male Riders. We need a girl.
I, however, do not think it is Nasuada. She dislikes magic, for one. And for another, I think she will become Queen of the new Empire. However, the Empire will be split, giving part of it back to the Broddring Kingdom, which would belong to Roran, Katrina, and their child.
Thus, I believe Elva and Eragon will leave Alagaesia on the boat. Arya will be either behind, or leaving with. For some reason, I think that all magic users will have to leave the land forever.
On a happy, note… I think Eragon I is still alive! He would be easily hidden because he would NOT have the silver palm. Remember, he was never actually bonded with Bid’Daum. The Riders were created after him. Which leads me to wonder, and I’ll have to ask this, it’s a good question!
Could Eragon use magic?
I ask because at the time, not all Elves could use it… Remember, they used to be just like humans. And magic amongst humans is weak and rare. And EragonI is so rarely talked about in the books. There is never any evidence that he can use magic.
Does anyone know?

For some reason, I think that all magic users will have to leave the land forever. On a happy, note… I think Eragon I is still alive! He would be easily hidden because he would NOT have the silver palm. Remember, he was never actually bonded with Bid’Daum. The Riders were created after him. Which leads me to wonder, and I’ll have to ask this, it’s a good question!Could Eragon use magic? I ask because at the time, not all Elves could use it… Remember, they used to be just like humans. And magic amongst humans is weak and rare. And EragonI is so rarely talked about in the books. There is never any evidence that he can use magic. Does anyone know?
1.) For everyone who thinks Roran will be the next rider… I highly doubt it. Again, it’s possible, but not probable. The WHOLE point of Roran is the fact that he is not magical, and yet he is still powerful, and he has still done great deeds. And, he has Katrina, which I doubt will die because it was a major plot point to rescue her, and if she is killed off it would be ridiculous. And if he becomes a rider, that means he will out live his wife.
Anyways, yes, the entire cycle is based off of Star Wars, that’s why I’m saying it’ll be Murtagh. At least it’ll be more interesting than Arya (Who I heartily dislike) and Eragon, together, defeating Galbatorix. They worked together in BOTH the first book and the third to defeat a powerful opponent… It’s getting a bit repetitive. What would be even better is Shruikan killing him. Now, THAT would be a good read.
It’s taking so long for the last novel to come out that practically every possible ending has been thought of.
But seriously. I really don’t want Eragon and Arya to get together. It would ruin the books. Eragon and Nasuada would work better than that. (Not saying I want them together either)

Interesting.
However, I don’t think Paolini would kill off any major characters. Perhaps this victim is completely unknown to us; the victim might be introduced in the fourth book.

I have always thought the vault of souls could be the, in the passage way Eragon passed by while in Farthen Dur. He had noticed in passing as as he ran to reunite with Saphria. This passage may have been explained in the extend edition of Brisinger I am not sure. It could also be the Rock of Kuthian. Of course the VOS could be where all the Eldunari are held. We are introduced to them in the chapter Souls of Stone.
No matter what though Christopher Paolini will no doubt blow our freaking minds, and perhaps break out hearts in the process. I know that he has been living in this world as he writes, and he has seen angles that we may not until the very end. The way that he has plotted this out long before he wrote it out makes me think that whomever the characters are that will die it will come fast and hard.
I had not expected Brom the storyteller to die so soon in the first book. That death made me see that Chris is not shy about taking out a great character. Add to the list of gruesome deaths of Ajihad, King Hrothgar (gruesome in its bluntness), Oromis and Glaedr (physical death), and we see that his original superiors and teachers are dieing off.
Islanzadi, King Orrin, Nar Garzhvog I would be surprised if any of the three make it through this last book, it is the inheritance cycle and these guys are going to die lol. Nasuada would have the biggest impact if she dies outside of Arya, Saphria, and even Angela (but do you see Chris knocking of the character based on his sis…nope). I am one of the many who can not see Eragon dieing, and hope that Saphria and Arya lives through all the danger in this last book.
Murtagh I think will redeem himself in the end. I hope that is the case. I think he is the tragic hero of the story. He and Thorn will perish, as I can not think of a character of his archetype that lives. And our pal the Big King well he is out of there, but I hope he becomes shade first just for the ultimate holy crap factor.
Wow look what I done I predicted that just about everyone will die. Yep there doomed, we’re doomed how very Angela of me.

@HarryQuacker: I find that very highly unlikely. He hasnt even been searching for the true name of the AL. and your not gonna just stumble upon something that complex. As Paolini said a true could be a phrase, paragraph or even a book. Besides to take magic out of a series that has been filled with tons of magic would not be probable

Nasuada hates magic and thinks that it is the cause of all problems. Eragon will probably win the war by finding the name of the Ancient Language (perhaps in the VoS) and un-binding it with magic so that magic ceases to exist, then it will just be a regular war and all of Galby’s powers and spells will be useless. But someone still manages to capture Eragon and since he has no magic now he can’t get out.

@EragonandAryaforever (Guest): Plausible. Though im not sure the VoS is inside Eragon, but your guess is as good as mine. CP hasnt really given us any clues on where or what it is

@Arvindr (Guest) yea but he started the riders so the “shining palm” wasnt the mark yet anyway here’s my theory:
eragon went disguised to galby’s castle just like brom did only he was sentenced to yard work and someone had figured him out so while he was physical exhasuted he was captured and torchured and while he was hanging he tries to call sapheria and while he succeds (sorry) in calling she is also taken prisioner while the captor threthens to kill eragon.
I believe that the vault of souls is inside of eragon but he needs to be close to death and complating his life to find it and it releses energy into eragon and makes him stronger

Very true
@Blake (Guest): the riders weren’t formed yet. so if tenga is Eragon one he doesn’t have a gedwey ignasia
Eragon raised Bid’Daum from being a hatchling and together they convinced both elves and dragons that fighting would lead to the destruction of both races.

Ok PrettyBullet! while you are right in thinking that even us ( as you put it disabled dyslexics love to read ). The truth of the matter is that we are not disabled at all, our only problem is that we are different. We can not be put into a box of some kind. Because we use highly visual-spatial thinking which characterizes Dyslexia folks is associated with great imagination, OUT OF THE BOX thinking, and intuitive problem-solving. It is even said that Albert Einstein, one of the world’s best-known Dysleics, developed his theory of relativity as the result of imagining himself riding on a beam of light. Yes, so we do not learn the same as for example someone with a normal brain. But then again what is normal, normal does not exist. And also we can do just as much as the next person, maybe even more because of our Dyslexia, not in spite of it. Finally, thank you for telling me where you are in Ky, USA.
W.T.F this is not a DYSLEXIA THON take this somwere else

If Angelas teacher was the first Eragon then that means Tenga is the first Eragon because Angela says he taught her everything she knows….so in all likely cases no. Plus im pretty sure Eragon would have noticed a Gedwaiy (sp?)

ive been thinking that the first eragon is still alive, cause, there is not written record of his death. and i thought at one time the same thing, the first eragon might just make a appearance.. i started thinking not to long ago that maybe Angelina’s teacher might be the first eragon…

Here goes my theory since everyone else has one.
I believe that Eragon is captured by a powerful foe, whether it is Galby or not I can not say but I think that it will be. I believe that inches from death Eragon contemplates his life, the people he has known and also the hurt and pain everyone has from losing their friends and family. While contemplating, he chances upon the true name of the ancient language, sort of the way he did with Sloan. After that it will be an awakening of understanding and he will probably beat Galby without a fight, making him feel remorse. I believe the Remorse Oromis spoke of will play a large roll.
I also believe the vault of souls isn’t a weapon or a store of Eldunari, instead I believe it will be the santuary of a lost rider, maybe the first Eragon, and the weapon he will receive from their will be information, maybe in the form of a riddle that he may have to decifer.

I think it’s a situation which we are all te stupid to think about ( not that you guys are stupid or anyting ^^ ) but because think about this one for moment. CP once gave us a hint about a certain enemy that likes to laugh, what i’m saying is that it is going to be someting obvious, because most of the hints eventually where. someting we all just didn’t think about
the possibilities are endless shall we say.
– they could have been az sweldn rak anhuin
– it could be nasuada who wants to be “queen of the world”
– murtagh who has another perfect reason
– for all I care it’s islanzadi
The first sounds the most reasonable and murtagh as a good ans solid second with the obvious reasons why.
I’m thinking he got captured and imprisoned in hopes of killing him or delivering him to the king and that’s it. The rest is far to vague to say what will happen, we don’t know why or the circumstances but those two are the most likely possibillities and the rest we will read about I hope someday soon

@Oleg (Guest): she woud’ve been sent before the eggs to be tested, but that would only be possible if galby was’nt there at all and since there are only three left. If she should become the rider of the green dragon it would even things out just perfectly, not to mention that would with almost any elf. And because she’s the only real candidate from the start ( she appeared in all of them so far ) I’m betting it’s going to be her, but it’s not up to me ^^

Eragon better not die. I don’t think he will, because his dream shows two people and two dragons leaving on a ship. Besides, if Eragon dies and Galbatorix doesn’t, what would be the point of the series?

good idea, and it could be Jeord that dies… after helping eragon find a passage, (so far, two statements at different times, cp says he killed a character off, so that leaves me to believe TWO characters have died, and prob not at the same time. or over the same reason…

one flaw..
what place is he caught at?? or being held captive at?? CP said eragon isnt in Galbys castle. cant be morzans, cause thats where Galby is.. it could be murtahs.. but as of now, nothing has been stated about him having a castle. Galby prob makes murtah live in his castle so as to keep a eye on him. so the question now is…. WHERE?? LOL.

Alright folks i don\’t know how you do this every time but this thread is not about the thrid rider so stop it. Now for a theory.
I still think that this setting is after Galby dies becuase he uttered the true name of the Ancient language. It is either a) beyond his poer and kills him or b) it calls forth the grey folk whe destroy galby. I personally think it is option a. This happens after a long battle between galby and eragon. Eragon is hurt badly he manages to get behind galbys defenses through brom\’s advice about using his intelligence. As a last ditch effort Galby reveals his discovery and ultimately kills himself. At this point Eragon is passed out and to exhausted to do anything. (saphira isn\’t able to help because it is in doors where a dragon can fit). Either Murtagh or some unknown force (yet to be revealed or mabye Tenga) captures Eragon and sneaks him to a dungeon. The reason for these options is they want to know what the true word waas that Galbatorix spoke. Magic is the key always has been. It has created the problem and it will destroy the problem.

Well my theory is that Eragon decides he wants to go with Jeod and look for passages or secret tunnels or something in one of the Empires cities (mabye Dras Leona or Belatona) and somehow he is captured. As Jeod said his role in the varden was to find that kind of stuff since he was the one who found the secret passage way in Tierm that led to Uru’baen.

Going back to the original topic i doesnt say that Eragon was necessarily tortured it just says he is hanging there all bloody. So he couldve been captured after a long battle or something.

@dude (Guest): The elfs have more magicians that the other races, but the most of theme are not so powerfull, Oromis sayed it in Eldes.

@bluefighter (Guest): Before i learned about eldunari in Brisingr that’s what i thought the vault of souls would be. A place where people’s (riders and dragons) would be. In book 2 Glaedr tells Eragon that when the body dies, the soul dies too – that there is no afterlife. So i thought that this notion would be proved wrong.
Now however i think it is very, very likely that the vault of souls is the place Galby is hiding the eldunari. I still have the vague hope that it isn’t, because that’s quite boring to me. I was hoping the vault to be more…. ghostly and mysterious. ^^

I’m sure i read somewhere that the elves have the same number of spellcasters as any other race, just more powerful. So the army of elves is strong due to their speed, strength reflexes etc, but not magically strong enough to defeat galbatorix on their own.

I have a huge theory that since Shruikan, Galbatorix’s Dragon, will somehow by the help of Eragon or something escape from galbatorix’s grasp and land the killing blow. And also this has been nagging me since book 1, rmemeber when Saphira flew up really high over the Beor Mountains and then Eragon almost passed out because of the thinning air and how they said that they would remember this in case it should be helpful in a battle in the future? Well, i think that this is going to play a crucial role in defeating Galbatorix too. Iuno i have alotta weird theories. Also, on where Eragon might be captured and stuff, i think its most probably somewhere we have never seen before, like being an unknown race or unknown something… atleast. Like when Eragon is out journeying to find a way to defeat Galbatorix, Eragon will stumble upon a path. I what i believe the Vault of Souls to be, i thought it was obvious to myself, is just the place Galbatorix stores his eldunari OR another hidden place where the elder dragons of the old have kept a LONG hidden and very secret place for their own eldunari… this will help Eragon defeat Galbatorix. Im pretty sure that the Vault Of Souls and this captivity thing are pretty connected… Lastly, i’ve never understood why Eragon is the only hope…. Apparently as we saw in the 3rd book, a dozen elves stopped murtagh, y cant the whole army of elves themselves just march over and defeat them. This book really strains to make Eragon and Saphira be the only real hope, but in reality, the elves themselves are atleast capable of the same tasks, if not more. Not to mention that its really funny when dragons fight, like murtagh vs eragon, because eragon and murtagh are like completely useless in the fights… Iuno, CP just needs to somehow augment the fights to include more action from both sides.. its very repititive and almost getting boring at the moment. These are a couple of the major flaws i believe this book has. But all in all, the book is still decent and i do still love it.

Sorry to have written so much lately but I had a thought. Do, or does, anyone think that it is possible, that when Eragon at some point opens the volt of souls, he will find oromis’s soul inside, along with varal’s, and that some how there souls help Eragon to fight the dark king? Just a thought I had, maybe it is stupit. But it would be nice to see oromis come back, even if it is just his soul..

@Tulkas: look at book 2 it clearly says that Arya is 100 years old not 70. Book 1 says that she spent 70 years helping out the varden.

@ChestershireCat (Guest): It’s not what happns, it’s how it happens that matters.
Arya is 70, the riders fell 30 years ere her birth.
I have noticed a large mumber of dyslexic people over the months on here…

I believe it says Arya’s real age in book 1,and i believe she was born a year before the fall of the riders, so the odds of her having handled the final egg is very slim. In all likelyhood she is indeed the final rider, as she would be the only fit match for eregon.

Oaky people, you have some great ideas here.
I liked the one by vannet, where elva is forced my gbly, and kills nausuada, and murtagh tries to kill himself, and then they kill galby,. But i dont think that its elva that the last egg hatches for. Araya’s magic is alaways green, like when she transported saphera’s egg. (sorry, i cant spell her name!) Eragon’s magic is blue, like when oromis is teaching him to transport stuff. sice we think that the new dragon is green, mabey araya will be the new rider, and then she and eragon will truely be together. I think that thorn gets killed, because in eargon’s first premonition, all these tall people are boarding a ship, and then the last tow board, and one figure is left on the beach, and he howls like a wooned animal as the two dragons take to the air. I think that Eragon and Araya and all the other elves leave alegazea, and they are taking the two dragons with them. Earagon is destined to leave forever. murtagh for some reason cant go, and since thorn is dead, he feels really bad about being left behind. this is probabaly bogus, but i like, what do you peopl think after this long paragraph?

Has any one thought maybe Katrina died in child birth?? i know earlier we had a conversation about it, and it was decided CP wouldn’t kill a character after spending a whole book rescuing. but she is carrying Roran’s child, that child will be what keeps Roran fighting, if you think about it that way…
@vannet
King Palancar’s ancestors are still in the vally,
i remember reading that… and it would make since that Roran is descend, and with Katrina dying in child birth, Roran wont have to keep his promise and return to the farm, and that would make way for him to be king…
I Can see it….

@vannet: if elva was so against killing then this “scarred view on life” as you put it would mostly prevent prevent her from becoming a rider due to the fact she would end up having to kill someone.

One other thing does anyone think Solembum might die. In the chapter King Cat he isnt mentioned even though Angela is. Wouldnt he be there when the leader of his race meets the leader of the Varden. He and Angela have that whole thing about being arround when things happen. Also the Wereking growls at Angela. Could that be for Solembums loss?

ya i noticed that dream of his too. and i was thinking that could be some place on Vroengaurd like some city that had been abandonded maybe even Doru Araeba. The home of the riders is so important it could easily end up in one of the books. And maybe its a look into the past not necessairly the future.
Elva is also being mentored by Angela. She may be a little odd but shes not stupid. And wouldnt let Elva turn over to Galbatorix.
And I dont think Nasuada will die Elva calls her “She Who Would Be Queen of the World”, on page 262 of Brisingr. Elva can sort of see the future so I think that Nasuada will be come queen. Because if Galboratrix is over thrown who will rule? Eragon doesnt want power, Roran plans to return to Carvahall in order to raise a farm and his family, Orrin is too odd to rule and people often mention that he doesnt unite the people the way Nasuada does and it cant be Murtagh because he will never die.
I think that Galboratrix will somehow kill thorn directly or indirectly and it will change Murtaghs true name and with his freedom he will join the Varden and marry Nasuada.

Okay how bout this: In Brisingr, eragon has a premonition of a girl walking in a “circular city of stone” (i dont have the book on me at the moment but i think it was page 252? or at least when Eragon was in the Varden’s camp). Now Eragon’s premonitions have been pretty precise before so we are going to have to assume that this WILL happen. Based off of this information im gonna put together a little thread of theories 😉
Looking at that premonition we have a “girl” walking through a circular stone city. the only “girl” we have been introduced to so far is Elva. In Brisingr, after Eragon cures Elva, she states that she is neither a friend or a foe of the Varden. Here comes the theoririzing. I am going to say Elva leaves the Varden and somehow ends up in a “circular stone city”. There she is somehow caught by the empire and taken to Galby due to her extrodinary gifts. Galby then forces her to use her powers along with some of his blackhand to try and “assassinate” someone within the varden that has a lot of power (though not Eragon cause Galby wants to unify all the riders and use saphira to get more dragon eggs). Now another high ranking member of the Varden is Nasuada. With Elva’s powers at their side, the blackhand could easily infiltrate the varden to try and assassinate Nasuada (especially if Eragon is in some dungeaon in manacles away from the Varden). Now Elva helping to assassinate Nasuada would take care of the “knife in the back” and “evil assassin” teasers that Paolini gave us. Now in the first book, it is hinted that there might be something going on between Nasuada and Murtagh. So im gonna go along with that theory and state that murtagh loves Nasuada. So when Nasuada gets assassinated, Murtagh takes a shot to his heart and is pretty much shocked with grief over her death. This grief will somehow lead his entire being to change (with him realizing that he cares about someone other than thorn) and thereby changing his true name and releasing him from his oaths with Galbatorix. This drastic change in character would probably affect thorn as well so both of their bonds would be released. Murtagh and Thorn then swear that they will get revenge on Galby and the Empire for murdering Nasuada and so they go and bust Eragon out of his “manacles” and go and search for the vault of souls (cause by this time the Varden has to be in total disaray over losing both Nasuada and “presumably” Eragon so pretty much all seems loss”). Also Roran at this point will assume leadership of the Varden because he swore that he would help them no matter what and with his amazing power of persuasion and leadership skills, ppl will want to follow him. Eragon and Murtagh then Confront Galby and defeat him along with the varden with roran in charge (with the help of the Eldunari that they will get at the vault of souls which btw Murtagh will tell Eragon where its at). Galbatorix dying will also then release Elva of her service to the empire where she is horrified by what she was forced to do (after experience death again and again with the varden, she probably has a sacred view on life now). At this point she will help Murtagh and Eragon find the hiding place of the last egg where it will hatch for her. With Nasuada dead and Galbatorix gone, Roran will then assume leadership of the new “broddering Kingdom” essentially going with nothing to give Katrina and his new son to pretty much everything. (also it is mentioned that King Palancar’s ancestors still live in Palancar valley so that could also mean that Roran is a decendent of King Palancar). As for dream that eragon has with A tall women and man getting ready to board on some boats with two dragons in the sky, im gonna say its eragon that is the man and Arya that is the women (they have presumably hooked up by now) and the two dragons are Saphira and Thorn with Murtagh being part of the card but not specifically mentioned and Roran on the beach who is crying out in grief over Eragon (who is essensially his brother) leaving for ever.

As for dream that eragon has with A tall women and man getting ready to board on some boats with two dragons in the sky, im gonna say its eragon that is the man and Arya that is the women (they have presumably hooked up by now) and the two dragons are Saphira and Thorn with Murtagh being part of the card but not specifically mentioned and Roran on the beach who is crying out in grief over Eragon (who is essensially his brother) leaving for ever.whooo **wipes sweat off of eyebrow***feel free to rip or add to this theory to ur pleasure 🙂
Based off of this information im gonna put together a little thread of theories ;)Looking at that premonition we have a “girl” walking through a circular stone city. the only “girl” we have been introduced to so far is Elva. @EragonandAryaforever (Guest): to those of you who haven’t read the books closely it is implied that arya was born after the fall of the riders. also if this isn’t quite true she would have still been a child and wouldn’t have been old enough to have been brought before the eggs to see if one would hatch for her. this info is given to us by the statement in Eldist that “she is young even among the standards of our race” not sure which elf said it but i do remember it beeing in the book. so this means plain and simple that she has not come into contact with the green egg and therefore it still could hatch for her.
however i think it would be nice for there to be a sort of twist in the story so that what everyone expects to happen wont happen by not having the egg hatch for arya. but i would also be just as happy if the egg does hatch for her. i think there needs to be a sort of balincing of the powers so to speek, and that an elf should be the next rider, and since CP has staited that the rider would be someone who was in all three of the other books and since arya was the only elf till alive that was in Eragon it enevitably means that if the egg hatches for an elf it would have to be her.
there are other good candidates for the egg to hatch for and i wouldn’t be saprized if it did hatch for one of them.

@Oleg (Guest):
Ok #1 CP already confirmed that the rider is someone we’ve seen before in the three books.
And #2 what give you the theory that Arya has touched the green egg already?? I dont recall her being in contact with any eggs other than Saphira’s or it ever being mentioned. But I may be wrong, would you give me the page # that implies this. Unless you are assuming, but a poor assumtion it would be for the egg will hatch when it feels safe. Not just when the person destined to be with it touches it, though they are connected.

Thank you werekitty, yes your right about the added power, and also helping prove a point that a dragon doesn’t always die if their rider does..
If Glaedr turned and attcked after Oromis passing, and (i was wrong with the grief) he was in fact killed after, by a blow/bite or whatever in the back of the neck.

well ok! if it is in fact true that eragon got captued by someone. Then were were the 12 or 13 elves who were suposed to be grarding/helping him. Were did they go. Sorry about my bad spelling I am Dyslexic.

My theories for next riders are as follows
1.Roran He is Eragons cousin
2.Nasuada (i have my doubts)
3.A totaly new character
4.Arya but i really dont think its her as she probably touched the egg many times before Galby stole them

@Oleg (Guest):
If by ‘rider mark’ you mean gedwe ignasia Elva doesnt have that. Its just a star. the gedwe ignasia is a silvery oval on your palm. And if Elva were to be the rider I wouldnt be surprised if she turned bad. I dont think CP would have the egg hatch for her. She doesnt have the will to overthrow Galby. as she said in the chapter from Brisingr: Intersecting Sagas, she is neither a friend nor a foe. And that she play with peoples pains to get what she wants. (something along those lines) She is very unfit to be a rider. Plus i think it would be rediculous to have a rider that is 1 yr old. lol

I though that maybe Elva might be the next rider for some reason as she has the wierd rider mark the Saphira gave her in book 1, this would be an interesting twist, because she is still cursed…..

sorry my spelling isn’t that great
Saphira mentioned twice, that if Eragon was ever captured again she would do anything, even fly to Urubain and fight the whole of the Empire and Galby, to get him back. This seems like a very interesting section of the book.

@EragonandAryaforevet (Guest): I dont want Arya to replace Islanzadi, I want her to be the next rider instead. I just think that would make for a more interesting story than inheriting monarchy… Plus if she does become the dragon rider i thnk and would bring her closer to Eragon (good thing) considering he was told by Oromis that he was to train the next Dragon Rider if the egg should hatch. And they will probably be fighting many of the same battles. So taking up Islanzadis status of queen I think would be much less eventfull in the books and would not make me very happy.

@PrettyBullet: In Brisinger after Oromis dies and says” don’t grieve for me” Glaedr turns around and starts fighting wirh thron and murtuagh…but remember Glabby has taken (sorta possesed) murt at this stage. And it was Eragon who came to the conclusion after the Blood Oath celebration that his new physical abilities may be a great but that if “brawn was all it took to defeat Glabby the elves would have done it a long time ago..afterall Glabby faced more formiable foes then eragon in his new state during the fall of the rides) Therefore when Glaedr says he felt something hit him on the back of his neck it was Glabby Killing him via Murt and Thron. Not Glaedr passing into the void because Oromis Died but because Glabby killed him as well as oromis

@Jim: I didn’t say happy endings are bad. I’m saying predictable endings are bad. Why waste time buying the book when you know what’s going to happen?
I want Murtagh to kill Galbatorix while Eragon and Galby are fighting, Eragon to not get all the Elduunari and instead free them to the void, and find a way to defeat Galbatorix by using his brain and not might.
Now, THAT would be an ending. But the way the books are heading makes it seem otherwise, however I may be wrong.

could Murtagh have re-claimed his father, Morzan\’s old castle?
Eragon could have given himself up to get to the eldunari (?spelling?) because there is no way saphira would have let that happen. unless they got separated.
he could have given himself to murtagh, because no-one knows where the eldunari are kept, but we all know that murtagh has been trusted with a few of them. kind of gives a starting point maybe?
and if this is true, then eragon is probably in Morzan\’s castle dungeon.

How about the secretive sect of Monks from Kuasta – the Arcaena. They have predicted a catastrophe that will destroy all civilisations in Alagaesia. They could somehow put their nose in to try and prevent this event, or to find out information through torture.

@Richmond (Guest): I accept the idea of Morzan being a traitor- after all, Durza hinted that he would attempt to overthrow Galbratorix in Gil’ead, but… that might actually hold some credence. Imagine: the eldunari hate Galbratorix, they wish for his downfall, and they think that faction-fighting with Morzan vs. Galbratorix will bring that about. So they don’t tell Galbratorix that Morzan has hired a caravan to transport the eldunari from wherever they were, with the eldunari disguised from the caravan drivers. Then forsworn die left and right, Brom saunters in and becomes a gardener, and the eldunari are left in the castle, with Galbratorix mystified as to how ther power has changed.
BRISINGRrrrr- I personally hold that Arya is not Eragon’s true love.
PreetyBullet- Perhaps Morzan had not mastered the ability of drawing upon the eldunari from afar. After all, he was weak in mind.
gmc112 “That’s impossible!” Eragon exclaimed, “If riders die when their dragons do they could only live to be seventy or eighty” (Brom explains rider’s unnatural long life.) I know, this whole thing is contradictory, but that’s where the movies got the idea, and those that have only read Eragon would think that, too, unless they got the bit about how the Twins could overcome Eragon alone, but without him Saphira would wipe them all out.
Oleg- First of all, Angela could have said one thing and meant another. Second, I don’t actually believe that, I was just putting it out there for those that were searching for an answer for something of that nature. Third, Souls is plural, unless Brom also had his dragon’s eldunari.
Perhaps Eragon was captured by a new faction? Elves: mad at him for the Menoa Tree, but they wouldn’t do that. Dwarves: that rebel clan? Perhaps Eragon would do it for Dwarf politics. The Varden? Nasuada showed herself capable of whipping Roran, and something of a similar nature could arise. Surda? I can’t think of anything for this one. Urgals? A tribe that hates Eragon and have drugged him to surpress his magic and he can’t use magic without the AL because he’s also unconsious. Murtagh? Very likely, though technicially all of the dungeons in the empire are Galbratorix’s dungeons. Gray folk? Certainately powerful enough, perhaps offended by Eragon, except they’re probably extinct. New faction of unknown power? Possible.

when talking about if a dragon will survive a riders death, you in a real shadowy grey area, yes… in book one brom says the dragon dies… but if you read threw all 3.. you get hints that its not always sooo…. the dwarfs them self talk of killing eragon, and having his dragons wraith taking out on them, i think, that maybe the dragon will only survive if their will for vengeance is more powerful then their grief. If CP would ever answer this question we wouldn’t be having this debate.. maybe it will be addresses again in book 4… we shall see..

morzan’s castle is Gallys castle now… but yea, murtah prob is the one who caught him… or eragon turned him self in, on way eragon might have turned him self in was his dragon was caught, and in order to have any chance at all of freeing her, is to turn him self in,

prob cause the dragon doesn’t necessarily die if his rider dies… i believe the dwarfs said something about not wanting Saphiera kill all dwarf in her grief for the lose of her rider,(when eragon was attacked while dwarfs where taking a break from trying to elect a new king) so im guessing Glaeder was attempting one last chance of avenging oromis death b4 grief overtook him..

@Oleg (Guest): The dragon does not die if its rider dies; that\\\’s only in the movie. And also in the second or third book, Eragon was told that Galbatorix had Morzan steal and egg for him, and that the egg was bound to Galbatorix with black magic, thus killing the egg\\\’s real rider with whom it had never bonded with.

Yes oleg, it could mean the original rider for blackie is alive… but i think i read somewhere that gally (or morzan) killed the rider b4 the rider and dragon made the bond, being that gally was the first to touch the young dragon, which FORCED blackie to be faithful to him.. against her will, (i believe its in the first book, and its brom that tell’s eragon this, in another book, i think its the 2nd, the cripple who is whole discusses it with eragon as well, which is why blackies name wasnt band, for she was forced against her will) I do believe tho that she is a she… i have read all three books more times then i care to count…. LOL

it’s possible murthagh goes solo (escapes galby by changing his character) And captures eragon. Tortures him, for making him feel what he had to endure, then teach him powerfull stuff (just a thought)

I was rereading the first three books, Angela tell Eragon that he will have a very long life. I discovered Galbys dragon was female (i don’t know if it plays a role.)
IMPORTANT FACT!!!!!
U know how if the rider die so does the dragon…meaning Shruikens real owner is still alive so that might be a mega role in this story

i believe your right, the cripple who is whole, FIRST brought up gally’s true name. but other nick is right (in a way) ayra and eragon did hold a convo discussing Gally’s true name. But it first arose during eragons training.. when eragon 1st thought up trying to take control over gally’. and their teacher told them it was possb but wouldn’t be of any use, for to utter his true name is a death sentience…. i think you need to reread the books nick, you seem confused alot, first you misunderstand me, and now you are misunderstanding the facts laid out in the books…. hmmm….. (i know there are two nicks, im talking about the one who said I NEED to pay closer attention to the facts in the book, thats the pot calling the kettle black..)

no i doubt morzan knew the where abouts of the VOS, only cause if he had, brom shouldn’t have been able to get close enough to kill him…. but again, i could be wrong…
I believe the VOS is the Dwarfs priceless that stone that ayra broke in the first book… but i only believe that cause it seems the wording for VOS is in dwarfish, and that would make since that they were hidding in something thats protected the way that stone is, and cherished as that one is too, the dwarfs prob have no idea, maybe the one that carved it in the first place, maybe he did it for that propose, or even with out knowing… thats where I think it is…
some one earlier brought it being in the desert where the dragons go to die, also where eragon promised they would return one day, and that makes some since too… but i believe its in one of the two places..

in my opinion the vault of souls is probably the rock that eragon and saphira see when the are leaving the Du Weldenvarden in Eldest on their way to help the Varden. The book descibes it as the place dragons were raised and where they went to die.

ChestershireCat (Guest), sorry to burst your bubble but that is exactly what will happen. Eragon and Arya will get together and kill Galby, the end. It’s sad that we are so cynical and jaded as a society that we consider happy endings to be “predictable” and actually dread them.

Tulkas: It could be possible that Morzan hide them from galby. I know that sounds thin becaue they were bound to galby but like brom said it isn’t about the strength of the spell it is about your intelligence. Its finding the loop holes. I think Morzan would have been capable of this.

Perhaps Eragon’s journey that Angela foretold is to journey to the land of the dead… he will thus live forecer in spirit form… this won’t happen, but this is said in response to the forever-life comments…
Cole- CP said that we would find out in Book 4 if the god was real.
Stewy228- On the souls thing:if the eldunari had been known from boow 1, the idea of the human/elf souls would never have arisen, as we all would have assumed that it ment the eldunarya. Thus, you are correct.
Richmond- Why would Galbratorix not only allow Morzan to posess the eldunari in his castle but allow them to remain there once they had gone? Doubtless they were stored at Dras-Leona during the rider’s time… perhaps they remained there? Or perhaps the “king’s personal dragon hunters” had them?
Glorfindel the good- ESO! Yes… I forgot all about that…

Alright here is a theory on a couple things. First I think it is Galby that dies. He dies because he utters a word that is beyond his power. He answered his question and Tenga’s quesiton. The true name of the ancient language. think about it that kind of power would seduce galby. Doesn’t realize it is beyond him and it kills him. this frees murtagh who captures Eragon and takes him to Morzans old castle. Murtagh is bent on being king and seeking revenge for the love that their mother never gave him. The vault of Souls is in morzans castle becasue he would have been planning a way to surpass galby. It is here that Eragon’s mother placed a protection over it that is His true name. He is able to gain a power that is greater then Murtagh and Kills Murtagh and thorn ( thus our second character).

I appologise in advance for the long post
Alright, my theory on the VoS. Kuthian sounds dwarfish, and somewhere in the books it is mentioned that before settling in the Beor mountains that the dwarfs were nomads of the hadarac dessert, so it would make since that there would be landmarks with dwarfin names in the hadarac. Also I don’t believe the vault the souls has anything to do with human or elfin souls. Since the heart of hearts are literally the souls of dragons it makes since that the vault contains the souls of ancient and powerful dragons. Also, in Book 1 when they first cross the hadarac, saphira mentions that she feels safe and at home there (maybe a ancestral instinct of safe haven). So I believe the vault of souls to be located on the mountains in the center of the hadarac dessert and that it contains the souls of dragons more powerful than the ones controlled by Galbatorix. As for the rest I have no idea.
Thanks for y’alls time.
