Several months ago, a good friend of Shur’tugal’s started planning a somewhat crazy, but extremely ambitious initiative: a 1,300-mile relay (running, not walking!) to raise awareness of genocide. This relay, entitled “Never Ignore, Never Forget,” will be completed by eight students over a period of only slightly more than two weeks. They will start in Wichita, KS on June 2 and pass through Kansas City, Springfield, Indianapolis, Dayton, and Columbus before finishing in Washington D.C. on June 13. Each of the eight students will run a half-marathon (13 miles) every day for a collective total of 104 miles per day. Shur’tugal is proud to support our friends in their cause to raise awareness of genocides all over the world.
We invite you to learn more and offer your support at their website, neverignore.org, where you can contribute to the cause, track how much money they have raised, and buy one of their t-shirts (which the Shur’tugal staff proudly sport). Once they begin their 1,300-mile journey, it will be possible to track their progress through blog posts and videos as they go.
