Varuag

Varaug is a shade introduced briefly in book three, Brisingr. He is made by three human spell casters that were sent to the city by Galbatorix. The three spell casters make him by summoning spirits as a last ditch effort to beat the Varden. We do not actually see Varaug be made as Eragon is having a vision through Glaedr. When Eragon wakes up he see's the shade holding Arya by the throat in the air. He assaults his mind while Arya fights him and together they are able to let Arya deliver the final blow killing him. Arya becomes the fourth person in history to survive killing a shade. Eragon noticed that Varaug was considerably stronger than Durza.
