Isidar Mithrim, also known as the "Star Sapphire" or the "Star Rose," is a very large sapphire mined by a dwarf named Durok Orntrond, or Eagle Eye in english. It was suspended in air hundreds of feet above Tronjheim. It was hand carved by the dwarves to appear like a huge rose. It is sixty feet thick and 100 feet wide, and it is also the floor of the dragonhold.
In Eragon, it is shattered by Saphira and Arya in order to distract Durza while he fought Eragon. In Eldest Saphira promises Hrothgar that she will fix it, but says all the pieces must be reassembled for her to do so. In Brisingr, Saphira repairs it. The book mentions that after she repairs Isidar Mithrim, it acquires a darker, richer. appearance as well as the inside most petal receiving golden tints. Her name was to be carved into it, along side the name of Durok Ornthrond.
