Burning Plains

The Burning Plains (or Du Vollar Eldrvarya in the Ancient Language) is a place to the west of Aberon. During one of the Rider's battles, their Dragons inadvertantly set a mineral in the ground on fire. From then on it has been inhospitable and uninhabited. It is the location of a battle between the Varden and the Empire at the end of Eldest in which Murtagh reappears and tells Eragon the truth concerning his parentage. Hrothgar, King of the Dwarves, is killed by Murtagh in the battle.
