Eragon Movie Cast
Plans to create a movie based on Christopher Paolini's Best-Selling debut novel,
Eragon, were first announced in February, 2004. 20th Century Fox, one of the
world's leading movie production companies, purchased the rights to Eragon.
Since February, Fox has been working on producing what they're calling the
newest hit fantasy movie.
Official cast announcements were first made in July of 2005, though rumors began
flying about Ed Speleers after Fox published a small casting call for males
interested in the lead role for the Eragon movie on their website. On July
15th, Shur'tugal released an official press release from Fox confirming that Ed Speleers had signed on for the role of the story's main character, Eragon.
More casting information soon followed. Over the course of July,
Shur'tugal was
able to confirm that Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, Christopher Egan, and Djimon
Honsou all signed on to the Eragon movie cast.
In August, 2005, Fox began filming Eragon at various locations throughout
Hungary. Filming ended a month later in September, beginning the movie's
post-production state, with Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) working on the
movie's CGI.
The Eragon movie
released in theaters around the world in mid-December (15th for USA, Canada, UK,
and more).
