Biography
Rachel Weisz was born in London to George and Edith Weisz. Her ancestry is
Jewish in nature and has influenced her own religious outlook. She attended
North London Collegiate School until she was expelled, at which point she
attended Benenden School and later St. Paul's Girls' School. For higher
education, she attended Trinity Hall at Cambridge studying English. She was
active in theatre activities while at the university and won a Guardian Student
Drama Award at the Edinburgh Festival. Most notable appearances in movies
include The Mummy, Enemy at the Gates, Runaway Jury, and Constantine. For her
latest role in The Constant Gardener, she received an Academy Award and a Golden
Globe for Best Supporting Actress. She is engaged to Darren Aronofsky with whom
she has a son named Henry Chance. Harry Houdini, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix,
Janis Joplin, Jackie Onassis, and Elvis Presley comprise her list of people she
admires.
