We’re coming out of hibernation to announce some major news: a live-action television adaptation of Eragon is in the works at Disney+!
Variety is reporting that Christopher Paolini will co-write the series. Bert Salke, who is also working on Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians adaptation, is executive producing the show.

Disney hasn’t commented on the news, but Christopher has cheekily confirmed it on his personal Twitter account, adding that he can say little about the project at this time.
Fans may (unfortunately) remember that Fox attempted to bring Eragon to the big screen in 2006, releasing a lackluster film that was widely panned by the Cycle community (and everyone else). The rights for Eragon transferred to Disney when the studio bought Fox in March 2019, and fans have been hopeful that the studio would give the series another shot.

The Inheritance Cycle fan community played a key role in making this happen. Most recently, the Arcaena fan group organized multiple tweet storms using the #EragonRemake, which were massively successful, seeing the hashtag trend on Twitter numerous times. Their persistence paid off!

It sounds like the show is still in the early stages of development, so there likely won’t be much more to report for some time. Still, stay tuned – we’ll keep you updated!
