Nation Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, is back! The annual event, which takes place throughout November, challenges writers to pen a 50,000 word novel by the end of month. Hundreds of thousands of people participate across the globe, many of whom have even had their NaNoWriMo novels published!
We’re all familiar with the tale of how Eragon came about: Christopher Paolini was just fifteen when he began writing what would later become the Inheritance Cycle. With the help of his family, the book was edited, self-published, and self-promoted, all while a teenager. Later, thanks to these efforts, the book was picked up by a major publisher and in the fourteen years since has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide – all because a teenager picked up a pen and began to tell the adventures floating around in his head!
Christopher’s story has inspired countless fans to begin writing their own novels. His impact is far reaching, and the stories of those who have found success after following Christopher and his journey continue to this day. For this reason, we’re celebrating NaNoWriMo as a way to encourage Cycle readers to tackle their own adventure by completing a NaNoWriMo novel of their own!
We’ll be providing helpful materials throughout the month to spark your imagination, encourage you to write, and check in on your progress! Here’s a preview of what’s to come:
