Celebrate ‘ELDEST’ day! Today marks the book’s 9th anniversary!

shurtugal-eldest-dayeldest-3d-bookToday marks nine years since the release of ELDEST, the second book in the Inheritance Cycle! In 2005, the year Eldest released, the series was still known as the Inheritance trilogy. It wasn’t until half way through writing Brisingr that Christopher realized the need for splitting the final book into two.

Upon its release and in the years since, Eldest has gone on to sell millions of copies and mark a permanent spot on the book shelves of many fantasy and young adult fans. It was an exciting year leading up to the book’s release, as announcements were made containing the book’s title, cover, page count and more, as well as hints at spoilers, lots of interviews, title rumors and more!

We’ve compiled some of the best news and articles from before and after the release of Eldest. These articles will take you back in time to witness the excitement fans experienced as all of these announcements were made and as Eldest reached previously-impossible milestones.

    I read ,,Eldest”
in German as a German, but I am a really big admirer of the Inheritance
Cycle, in Germany called ,,Eragon”. Christopher Paolini, you did a very,
very good job, Sir! At all, I do love Fantasy fiction and Inharitance
is just a symbol for Fantasy literature.
also like to share my favourite scene: in my opinion, the best scene is
when Eragon meets Murtagh high in the sky,
far away from the battle between Galbatorix’ army and the one of
Nasuada. The atmosphere is just so good described, I’d love to write
myself that good. But in the end ,,Brisingr” is my book which I love
I look forward to hearing more news from my old good friend Saphira – and, of course, Eragon.
PS: pardon, if you may come over some mistakes, but English is not my mothertongue.

I remember going totally nuts during Arya’s rejection of Eragon. I totally saw it coming, but….THE FEELS xD

I actually started with the series with Eldest and thus, began my love affair with the Inheritance cycle. So, the second book holds a special place in my heart 🙂
The story is inspiring and beautiful and I miss Alagaesia already!
Look forward to more of Christopher’s work 🙂

I’m brazilian and at that time my english wasnt very good, so I borrowed a portuguese version of Portugal from a friend before the brazilian version arrived. The book was so much more fun than the first, we clearly saw the development of Paolini’s writing, it would seem that he was growing alongside with Eragon. I think one of the best moments of Eldest is the arrival of Glaedr and Oromis and of course when Eragon tests his new body and powers from the Blood-oath Celebrartion, it was very exciting. I read Eldest many times as I waited for the release of the third book, Paolini sure made us wait on that, but every time I read I picked up a new detail that I missed in the previous readings. Anyways, its a great book, my third favorite of the four.

Wow I forgot we only waited 2 years for the second book. That was nothing compared to the wait for the later installments! Very worth it, though!
