  • SoCalJo

Not Southern California?  There is only 8 million people here, I guess that makes sense…

  • Aj3537

I can’t believe he’s not coming back to Michigan. When he was here for Brisingr, there were over 1,200 people packed into the little store to see him. I thnk Random House could have done a much better job spreading out the stops. It would be nice if a tour had one stop in each state to give all fans an equal chance to get their books signed.

I have first editions of Eragon, Eldest and Brisignr signed. I even tracked down a copy of the self published first edition. I have a first edition of Eragon’s guide and have the last book reserved. I started this collection for my baby sister and would love to complete it. I don’t have a lot of money so traveling and buying them off ebay is nearly impossible.  My only hope is that he will write another series and makes a stop near me.

    • The Green dragon

You have to remember that he is only one person and imagine just traveling almost eveysingle day for over two months with only a couple of days for breaks, and instead of at least going somewhere cool, he has to sign books, take pictures, etc, with and for fans.

    • Poco

Me too. i wish he didn’t have so many stops in Texas. Then only one stop in California… I know its based on sales, but really?

  • Steven N

Wow….I think that the most surprising thing I’m seeing is that he hasn’t been routed to stop in DC. That’s rather impressive.

  • Holly

Umm he’s missing half of Canada! Why no stop in Toronto? Very disappointing. I guess there really is no chance to meet my idol. 🙁

  • Redhairwookie

    Yay kansas city

  • Stepintothe

SWWWEEEEEEEETTTT SLC so happy to meet this guy

  • Zarys

seriously? miami? why not orlando? its more in “central florida” so you would be in the CENTER of florida… if you did you would have one more fan there… oh well….

anyone know how early I should arrive for the book signing in New York? I will be traveling from canada around there and we will make a detour for the book signing. I just want to make sure I arrive early enough to meet Christopher Paolini. I have never been to an author book signing session before I am really happy!

  • Anonymous

I pre-ordered on amazon (for all 4 of the books) and am going to the signing in Philly, but i wont have any of the books yet!!!! Any ideas on what to do?!

    • The Green dragon

      um you could cancel that order and pre-order them at the store and go to get them on the 8th and on the ninth go to the store and get them signed.;

  • Bori

    What? Europe? Next spring? No!

Miami? Thats like the bottom of Florida.  Ridiculously far away to anyone who doesn’t live in Miami.  Even Tampa or Orlando would be better.  Somewhere much more centralized.  Florida’s a big state ya know….

  • Noodleyful

Los Angeles, anyone? No, okay. I see how it is. I’m just expected to drive 7 hours to Corte Madera on a school day during NaNoWriMo. >:(

    • Killjoylethallaser

I know right?! Seriously I mean you can’t come to Cali for a book signing and not stop at or near LA. I iz upset…

  • Cdobes6

    What about Minnesota? =(

  • Cdobes6

    What about Minnesota? =(

  • Guest

It sucks he won’t to more “isolated” (not visited much by authors I mean) states. What about Tennessee or Kentucky? Cut back on some of those Texas visits and you can go to other states.

Guess those fans don’t matter though.

OH. MY. GOSH. He is making not one, not two, but FIVE stops in TEXAS!!

I HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER IN MY LIFE.

    • iLoveDragons

Sometimes living at the very tip of Texas sucks.

  • AWESOME!! He’s coming to my hometown (Phoenix) I know what I’ll be doing on December 3…

  • Dagos

Why is he coming to my town last?! He should be here first since he lives like…. 30 or so minutes away BC

  • Very disappointed about their being no stop on Toronto. Vancouver and Edmonton are pretty much on the other side of the country and there’s nothing on the east side of Canada at all. They came last time, so I dunno why Random House didn’t fit something here again:/ I was really looking forward to this so it’s a bit disheartening. I mean, Toronto is a pretty major city and it’s right beside New York.

I’m considering ordering off that signing site, but it kinda defeats the purpose. It’s mostly about meeting them and all:/

There’s no chance of an extended tour picking up after the holidays right? Or places getting added? Pretty much desperate right now:( Oh well.

  • Just spitballing ideas here, but…what would you guys think of a LIVE podcast from NY?

With possible listener call-ins and or live chatting with us.

    • Lil Uhura

Please, please, pleeez?  For those of us not lucky enough to get to a signing?

    • lol, those never work out.

      • bigmike

I agree. There is always one crazed fan girl/boy who calls in and rants on about something. Then when you are “accedently” disconnected, they call back all mad and it just ruins the podcast. Plus the people who cant get true and are on hold for an hour arent really to fun to talk to.  :/

  • Lil Uhura

I am so wishing that I still lived in Montana right now.  I used to live only 3 hours away from Bozeman.

    • Dagos

But it’s sucky cuz he will be there LAST of all places BC

Of course, no one ever remembers San Diego, as beautiful as it is…

  • DragonsAreAwesome

I am soooooo sad.  I thought for sure that his “North American”  Tour would include Toronto.  Why wouldn’t they (the Publishing Company) choose it; it’s not too far from New York.  I was really excited to meet him and he only has 2 stops in Canada and like numerous stops in the same states???????  I know it wasn’t CP’s decision; just complaining out loud 🙁

Silly Random House team.  Only one stop in California? You’d think LA would be a top priority.  High profile book in a high profile town.

  • Shadowwriter

I wish he’d come to Colorado. Oh well, maybe another year.

Why can’t he go somewhere in the middle of the  US, like Nebraska?!

It’s good to know that there’s no school on November 8th. Do we New Yorkers have to get tickets for the event even if we are just buying the book?

  • Anonymous

Closest one is 20 minutes away in Philly!!!! Yes! Aha but to anyone who’s been to something like this, is it like an event like buy tickets, or is it more show up and wait in a long line?

    • Coasterking

the ones ive been to and that is one for each of the books have been tickited events i would call ahead and ask the people sponsering it as they are the only ones who can give you a correct answer but rember this all the places have to pay him to come so the money has to come from somewhere.

      • Anonymous

Thanks a lot! I knew i would have to pay, but i just wasnt sure if i had to buy them beforehand or at the time. I’ll call the library thats hosting it

      • In most circumstances, places do not pay authors to come tour. I’m not sure where you got that information but it’s inaccurate.

        • Anonymous

Oh well thanks Mike, I’ll call!

Oh well thanks Mike, I’ll call!

        • Coasterking

I know that the host of his chicago apperance does this at the minmum  they pay travel expenses my mom spent a number of years working for them and this has always been there policy espicialy for big name authors like chris and j.k. rowling and stephine myers. I guess I thought it was the norm. Thanks for the correction though hate to give out info that not accuret

    • It’s best for you to call and ask. Each event is different.

  • Anonymous

The nearest one to me is about 10 hours away, Billings.  When Brisingr came out I drove to Bozeman to have my booked signed, a three day trip.  Chicago is 12 hours from me and Kansas City is also 12 hours away.  Looks like I live in the middle of nowhere, though I wouldn’t trade it for anything!!

  • Irock13198

The one closeist to me is NY and its 2 hours away on a school day, looks like i can’t go.
I wish he stopped in New England

    • Irock13198

And i know that he doesn’t plan it Mike so no need to comment.

    • The Green dragon

hey dude same thing for me but i am definately leaving school for it.

  • Emeric

No! What about the other international countries you said he’ll visit before the release? Isn’t that more important? 🙁
I know RandomHouse decides when they’ll cme out with the information, but this just makes me so angry!

    • I linked to the stops he’s making in other countries before the book release — they’re all UK, and they’re in the next two weeks. If he does an international tour after his North American tour, it will be released further down the line. Random House USA isn’t responsible for his international tours — his international publishers handle that.

      • Emeric

Aah, I see. I must have missunderstood this article: http://shurtugal.com/2011/07/31/international-fans-rejoice-christopher-will-visit-more-international-countries/
So, could you please just tell me one thing so that I wont look in vain? Christopher will still visit more countries, but sometime after his tour in the US?

  • David S

Hope that is Redmond, WA and not Redmon, WA 🙂 Tuesday the 29th (of Nov) is now marked off.

    • Tabitha K.

      Same here!

  • Just a quick note folks: Christopher does not choose the tour stops/locations. Book tours are put together by the author’s publicity team at their publishing house. In this case, the team at Random House was responsible for assembling this tour. Lots of work goes into these tours and a lot of the stops are based off of where sales are strongest/where there are a lot of fans. That isn’t to say that there aren’t fans in the areas he won’t be visiting… it’s just important to remember that Christopher is only one person, and he can’t tour forever.

    • JustPlainEric

To not have a stop in Southern California is asinine to me, but it is there choice, good thing I already made plans to go to Houston for their tour stop!

      • JustPlainEric

        Their*

  • bigmike

What? No LA? (that Louisiana) Does he not think that visiting New Orleans would be a great idea? Does everyone think that Louisiana is full of red necks and hill billies? Cause that is dead wrong! We are very smart even though we arent afraid to work in the fields and get dirty! I should invite him to come have some crawfish and show him a true Southern good time, how
we really cook, and hang out with the original “Good Ol Boys”! : P

    • Christopher does not decide where the tour stops are made. These decisions are made by the Random House team.

      • bigmike

But I stil dont like it when people find out that Im from louisiana and automatically think that Im not very smart. I scored a F-ing 64 on my asvab for aslams sakes. Its just plain profiling it and it gets on my nerves. But still, Random House…… I think that their way of deciding things is just that. Random.

    • WhoCares

Can you ride the “everyone should visit new Orleans” train any longer. That hurricane was 6 years ago and NOONE CARES ANYMORE!!! Please find something else to whine about. I am from southeast Texas and we got a hurricaneright after your and no one cares either.

  • Rogerlairdwriting

Whats with five dates in Texas? Guess Paolini thiught he better do it big down there.

      • Rogerlairdwriting

I know people do not decide their own book tours. I just thought it was funny so I said something. I wonder if there is a larger market for his books in Texas or something.

  • The Green dragon

Yea its in Birmingham! so close to Auburn!

  • Alexis27

I swear no one comes to South Carolina

    • bigmike

Nor Louisiana. Whats up with that?

    • Anonymous

      Nor North Carolina

  • Just a small correction: The Kansas City address clearly says “Kansas City, MO” but you put “Kansas City, KS” above it. Don’t want anyone to get confused!

    • Just copied what I was sent, I’ll fix that though.

So, I feel like it would make sense if Christopher stopped at the Mall of America in Minnesota. That’s a pretty big venue. Just sayin’. 😀

    • Ashley A

Thanks for posting this though! I don’t mean to sound ungrateful! It’s really nice of him to do this book tour! 😀

  • I Don’t Get It

I don’t get what the big deal is about these tours. Am I missing something? Is something special going to happen?

    • Guest

Um… You get to meet the author… Christopher himself. Thats not big??

      • bigmike

F^(k yeah its big! Its even on my pre-bucket bucket list……. I want to meet the person who is able to put more detail into a little five paged chapter called “Thunder Roar and Lightning Crackle” then most authors put into their entire books.  🙂

    • A lot of fans like to hear from their favorite authors on tour. Christopher reads from the books, gives presentations, does Q&A sessions, interacts with each fan, and signs books. That’s a lot of stuff, especially when these events are free. It’s a great way for fans to interact with the person who wrote the series.

      • Coasterking

that not always free mike the one in chicago costs an extra $15 on top of the book for the ticket

        • If they cost money, it’s usually because of the venue it has to be hosted at. Big authors like Christopher require big venues, which often cost money to rent. In most cases, authors do not profit off of a book tour. Most events are free. I do not believe Christopher profits off of this tour.

    Just 2 stops in Canada… 🙁

  • Mall_king_cash

yaaaaaa no were near TN that sucks

  • Frustrated_NewEngland

So…there’s a whole nother section of the US… known as New England… don’t know if you know that. But it’s cool. Texas totally needs four stops and Montana definitely can’t live without three signings in a row at the same place.

    • Yeah, as a New England resident, I’m not sure why Texas would get four signings and all of New England would be ignored… it doesn’t seem like such a great decision, but I also have almost no understanding of the logistics of planning a tour.

As for why he does so many stops in Montana — it’s because those stops are all in his home state, within driving distance. He’s always done a lot of events in Montana simply because it’s where he’s located, so it’s easy to get down to do.

      • Rogerlairdwriting

Its five stops in Texas, not four, wouldnt want them to feel short changed.

      • bigmike

Texas is quite large, there is one for the left, right, and top corners and middle of Texas, which also allows the states around that area to get in on it to. But I dont know why he would leave yal out.  :/

        • Christopher does not decide where the tour stops are made. These decisions are made by the Random House team.

          • bigmike

Like I said above, I say that Random House’s way of deciding things is pretty much self stated. RANDOM!!!!!

    • Irock13198

i wouldn’t mind if he stoppen in CT. No I would love it!

    • Ashley A

Whoa! What do you mean? Did you register to go there? How do you do that?

      • I highly recommend calling the book store sponsoring the event to ask about ticketing.

        • Ashley A

Alright! Thanks Mike! Still a little iffy on whether I’ll go or not because the closest venue is 5.5 hours away, but we’ll see! 😀

          • Coasterking

Lucky American fans! I expect to see a lot of pics and reports from the tour 🙂

… and I still have a tiny hope for central Europe.
