This week’s sweepstakes word is after the break due to it not being included in the episode.

roran cant be the rider of greenie because he is married to katrina and katrina is mortal nasuda or arya may be the rider and since eragon has vowed to avenge hrothogrs death he has to kill murtagh even if murtagh changes maybe he wont kill murtagh as he changes and since he broke his oath he would be banished from alagaesia

    SPOILER!!!!!

I agree Galbatorix’s training didn’t cover pulling energy from the suroundings, but wouldn’t he be able to learn that from the Eldunari he has captured?

    • Me

I would think that he just assumes that it only works with dragons. Eragon didn’t have any idea it could work because he just assumed that he could only use Saphira’s energy because of the unique Dragon-Rider bond.
However, I’d also think there’s a chance Galbatorix may have figured it out just by reason and logical thought…this isn’t too likely though, since he’s completely nuts.

  • bigmike

Hey mike, when you said that CP wouldnt make a king a rider (1 hour 12 mins in), it made me think, “wasnt Aria’s dad a rider king? He was the king of the elves and wasnt he also a rider, making him a rider/king. I cant find my copy of eldest at the moment but im pretty sure he was……  :/

    • Matt

      He wasn’t a Rider, only a king.

      • bigmike

        thx

Welcome back Chris. Last week just wasnt the same without you.lol

  • Robin

So off topic…but does anyone know if there will be a Barnes and Noble midnight release like  last year?  Planning a vacation and trying to decide if I should return a day early to attend the one near my place.

    • Robin

I mean during the last book’s release.  Not last year.

    • Noodleyful

I’m not sure, but if not, I’d love to get one to hold a launch party in Los Angeles!

And then we’d go somewhere to read it together at 1:00 am, for those of us who will buy the book and not get any sleep so they can read it the second it’s in their hands. Denny’s anyone? teehee . . . 😛

    • Most likely there will be a midnight release in a ton of places.  Mike, Bob, and I were all present at the release of Brisingr in New york city.  Christopher was at the union square (I think) B&N.  It was a great time.  There will obviously be a big event with him this year, but alas, no details yet. 😛

  • Liya Michael

most people think that izlanzedi will die.If arya and eragon do get back together that means that eragon will be the new elf king. If they do get together he will one day become elf king.
it dosent sound like CP and eragon couldnt leave alangasia forever if he was to be elf king. sorry about spelling mistakes and in no way am I going against A x E.

  • bookwyrm713

I still wish Orik could be the Green Rider, though I know the odds of that happening are pretty slim.

    • Despite what everyone says, I reckon Arya will become the Green Rider. I seem to remember before Brisingr came out that many people thought that Brom would be Eragon’s real father, but people objected, saying that it would be too obvious… but it turns out he actually is. I can’t help but wonder if the same will happen with Arya – people think that it is too obvious and that it won’t happen, so therefore it will happen.

    • The pact with the eggs won’t allow this.  Only humans and elves can be riders.  I wish he could be though!

      • bigmike

There is always a loop hole if you can find it. The dragons might gift orik in a simular way that they gifted eragon, making him the first dwarf rider and changing the pact for future generations. CP has put larger twists into the last three books, why not make a dwarf rider?
PS, can you tell mike that its not a birds nest, its actully called a crows nest where the look outs stand at the top of the mast. 🙂

They can modify the spell like the elves did for the humans.

    • Guest

But then he can’t be king anymore 🙁

    • Guest

He can’t be a rider, as he is a dwarf. The dwarves were not a part of the original, or modified pact with the dragons, so no dwarves can be riders until this is changed. Sorry, I like Orik too.:) He is also probably busy with the duties of a dwarf king.

  • Macs_bunch

I’m not sure if Islanzadi and Arya had a fight, or if she was just being very professional because she was aware of the reasons why Arya chose to leave early…aka Eragon’s puppy love shamble.  I also think that Islanzadi is such a confident/arragant leader that she will for always believe that Arya made a mistake when she became the ambassador.  Perhaps, she was just upset that after Arya was captured and tortured, she again chose to leave to fulfill duties her mother thought should maybee be done by another.

  • Macs_bunch

Mike we need a picture of this epic beard and haircut.  Can you rival Patrick Rothfuss?  Fans must know!!!

its up above on the post. ill give you a hint. it has to do with water.

      • Anonymous

        i found it, thanks.

  • Logic Lawyer

It isn’t stated outright that Galbatorix doesn’t know how to pull energy from his surroundings. What Oromis actually said was, “This is one of the greatest secrets of magic, a secret that even Galbatorix may not know.” Key phrase is MAY NOT KNOW. Oromis isn’t sure, and even if he wasn’t taught it, Galbatorix may have discovered it on his own. He’s had more than a hundred years to experiment with magic, after all.

Though, I must admit that it is definitely a strong possibility, probably the most likely scenario, that Galbatorix does not know about it.

  • Logic Lawyer

I have to disagree about Orrin and Nasuada. Orrin’s main objection wasn’t so much that lace wasn’t respectable, so much as the damage that it was doing to the economy of Surda to have unusually cheap lace take over the market and steal the business of the Weaver’s Guild. I felt that Nasuada was really going off half-cocked with her idea and using what she saw as a magical way to make more money without really thinking about the direct consequences to her allies and the people of Surda.

Furthermore, I got a strong sense of ungratefulness and arrogance from Nasuada, here. You could say that she “turned the tables” on Orrin, but that isn’t how I see it at all. Orrin from the start allowed the Varden to stay in his country and opened his treasury to them, giving them his support, but all along Nasuada was frustrated because she didn’t see this as enough, despite that Orrin had given them all that he could without severely damaging his country.

Orrin strikes me as the kind of person who is thinking about his country, the good of Surda, while Nasuada is just kind of trampling roughshod over its concerns, reveling in the satisfaction of her own ego and the pursuit of her single-minded goals, ignoring the damage that she did along the way. I found Nasuada’s actions here to be as disrespectable as her stances on magic or her actions in Brisingr. Well, almost.

    • guest

all true. man i hate nasuada. i hope she gets stabbed by an intoxicated empire soldier

      • Coasterking

        mean i love nasuada

    • Horsegal4ever

I don’t think it’s quite like that. Nasuada is big on keeping the Varden safe. That is her number 1 and ONLY concern, other than killing Galbatorix. All she does is for the Varden. She does kinda walk over Surda and King Orrin, but only with the Varden in mind. Besides, doesn’t she also have the lace sold to people in Alegaesia? Her thoughts are, ‘I will do what I must to keep the Varden protected and provided for, to reach the goal of killing Galbatorix.’ And if you think of it, Surda was once part of Alegaesia. But all she thinks of them are allies, a means to an end. That’s how people like her have to think sometimes. It’s not easy being a ruler. Every decsision hurts Someone.

  • Fan

Jeod  or Arya well be the next dragon rider if you think about it hes the only one that knows  a way into gallbatorixs castle and he well be the one to hold the egg and if you think about it the only people that well accompany eragon to sneek in well be Arya, Jeod and maybe Bloodgharm.

  • I noticed that the Hurricane was overhyped too. I live in SC and we could care less. I just started laughing when the New Englanders where running around like ants like “Omg! It’s a hurricane!” Meanwhile I was like, “Meh… it’s windy.” lol. However, I can’t really say anything. We get a sprinkle of snow and everything shuts down here and we get out our old tyme lanterns out. Luckily we get snow every 5 or 7 years.
Focus! Didn’t you fellas ever learn in elementary school. Girls rule and boys drool. Why else would Brigit knee Uthur’s balls? It’s not like he was wearing an old tyme cup. (evil grin) And Nasuada come up with using lace to fund the war.
Is it strange that everytime I read about Elva I have “the Shining” music in my head. And I wouldn’t put it past her saying “Come play with us.”
    ——————
Team EragonXArya took a nose dive after the Blood Oath Celebration. I actually feel for Vanir for keeping a busted up arm. Whenever I get a brusied eye I actually wanna show it off while it’s still gross. Simply because it’s a good story to tell. “Man what happened to your arm?!” “Dude, you should have totally been their! I was like bustin’ some moves on Eragon and boom! He clocks me on the arm!” You get the picture.

Which is why I want to know what the hell was going on in Brisingr because all throughout the book, it wasn't Eragon who couldn't keep his distance from Arya, it was Arya who couldn't keep her distance from him.

I love these podcasts XD it is fun listening to all the different points of view that I never thought of before and how because of them I’m reading the books in a different way trying to analyze things I hadn’t noticed before.
I tried to make some sense of Blagden’s second riddle :
While two may share two << this could mean eragon and murtag having the same parents
And one of two is certainly one,<< that selena is definitely the mother of both
One might be two << the father is two as in eragon's father is brom while murtagh's is morzan
I wan'ted to ask when you say that we should keep the voice mail brief .. how long would be too long ?

  • Gabe

I just realized that Angela set up shop in Teriem (sorry for spelling)  right after Brom and Jeod rescued the egg and Eragon was born.  Again going back to the fact that angela likes to be where the action was…

  • Helen Beddis

I realised during the discussion about Elva that her personality, especially her attitude shows similarities to Saphira, strong minded, wise beyond her age, witty, sarcastic but not to be messed with. This could be connected to Saphira marking her as well as the blessing.

I think that Nasuada doesn’t like someone or some power to be stronger than her and thats why she doesn’t like magic. It makes he feel vulnerable.

  • No no no Nasuada WILL survive the war and she WILL become an awesome queen of Alagaesia.

  • I begin 8th grade tomorrow, just before the podcasts get intense; these 9 weeks before Inheritance releases are going to be pretty busy and I hope to the dragons that I don’t fall back again. It took me FOREVER to catch up these last few days. Personally I loved the part when Roran and his group were meeting with Jeod, every single time I read that part I have this huge grin on my face like “They’re finally about to find out the truth!!!!”.

Who are these supposed fans who like Vanir?? That guy is such a jerk, I don’t see how anyone can like him (though he is great as far as a plot device).

    • guest

I love Vanir! I think he’s great as almost an anti-Eragon and definitely is interesting because he’s one elf who is probably speaking all of the other elves’ opinions. And I think his arrogance is very amusing.

      • bigmike

He is like the eminem version of an elf. He says the sh^t that everyone is thinking but is scared to say it. He doesnt care if he has a cocky mouth and is  a jerk, he puts it out there in public and he doesnt care who he ticks off.

I already said this but I feel like saying it again. I don’t know if many of you are interested in fanfiction, but it’s something I enjoy reading for all different series to help with the waiting time. They’re an interesting read sometimes because it explores a story based on a writer’s theories; so instead of discussing a theory you can read how it might turn out. These two stories are amazing. They’re most likely not what’s going to happen, but they give you ideas to come up with your own theories. The first one is Eldunari and it’s continuation is Edoc’sil. Here ar the links:

I hope you read them and enjoy it as much as I do.

Well, I can imagine that Jeod might be a bit rubbish to be married to – I mean, as cool as he is, he is undeniably wrapped up in his adventures, which his wife is not at all involved in.

  • Remember, the sweepstakes word is available in the post! Sorry everyone who was listening closely for it!

This is not the new norm, though. Everything should be back to normal for the next episode.
