Christopher Paolini to Tour UK Prior to Book 4 Release

Random House Children’s Books UK has announced that Christopher Paolini will be touring the United Kingdom prior to the release of Inheritance, the final book in the Inheritance cycle. Christopher’s tour will include stops at the Telegraph Bath Children’s Books Festival and Fantasy Con in Brighton, as well as events and signings with Waterstone’s, Forbidden Planet and The Newham Bookshop. Christopher’s will be in the UK September 27th through October 1st.

We’ll be sure to post details on each tour stop as we receive them. Will you be seeing Christopher during his UK tour? (North American fans: Christopher Paolini will be doing a tour in North America following the release of Book 4, however no dates have been announced. We will post these as soon as we receive them.)

Even if its in Brighton, I live in London I am still going to do my best to go there cos this is really special to me

  • bluedragon

    hope he comes to bristol
but 17th to the 1st is only 4 days

  • SS

Mike isn’t possible for Christopher to come to major cities like London, Birmingham etc.? Brighton is just way out of the way for some of us, and I would love for a chance to meet him!

  • ohloop12

When you say “UK” … you mean Scotland too, right?
Although I admit, I might burst into tears of joy if I wander into Waterstones and see Christopher Paolini sitting there drinking coffee …

    • Rock__power

I KNOW!!  I would cry tears of joy!!

  • Anonymous

I hope he comes to Birmingham!!! 😀 😀

  • bluedragon

wish he were here longer then just 4 days

  • SJ (guest)

Really hope North Yorkshire is part of tour, near Ripon, York, Harrogate or Leeds. Nothing ever happens near me. It would make my year.

  • Saphiraimafan

    YESYESYESYESYES! 😀

  • Taz

he is not only visiting the UK now he also visiting the rest of the world.
i hope the will stop in the Netherlands!!!

  • shz93

Really hope he comes to Belfast!

  • AvaAnnaZ

Yaaaay!! Brilliant news!! This is undoubtedly one of the best things that ever happened to us fantasy fans in London. And that’s saying something, considering that, well, we do have Harry’s King’s Cross Station.

  • Arya<3

    So… podcast next week? 😀

  • some person

I  was thinking about this, and its pretty illogical, but i think it MAY be right or at least leading up to something. On Brisingr’s cover, Gleadr has some semi-crinkled scales along his neck, and he was rather old and aged. Possibly indicating wear and tear on the scales just by time. On the Inheritances cover, nearly the entire dragon is crinkled. I’m thinking it may be possible that this new dragon is actually a old dragon. Possibly a rider who stumbled upon the egg during the early fighting or sometime before it, and decided to flee instead of risk going to the elves and being killed. Or it could been like in eragon’s case. Stumbled upon the egg, and when it hatched he (or she) was too excluded from the rest of the country to understand the meaning. Its just a errant thought, highly unlikely, but im deeply fascinated by the different appearances of the dragons. Even Thorn, a young dragon had smooth scales. I’m wondering what you guys think about my theory?

    • Taz

its a nice theory but there is one problem with it.
the third green egg is stil with galby so so one could stumble upon it.

and the diferent scales dragons have may be like the diferent skin couler human have.

  • Taz

its nice he is coming to the UK but if he is there why not take a visit to the main land of Europe. there are loads of fans in the Netherlands, germany, belgium and france.
he had so many tours in the USA i think fore the last time he could take a nice visit to Europe.
i know loads of people how would really like it if he would come over here.

    • Christopher does not choose where he goes on tour. His publishers choose and he goes.

  • iLoveDragons

I wonder how British people say Paolini…

    • As

I am british, and have issues saying it.

At first I though you pronounced it ‘pow-leeny’, then I thought it was  ‘pay-o-leeny’,and now I say ‘pay-leeny’ .

      • Boo

I used to say pway-lini haha

    • Anonymous

      pay-oh-leeni
🙂 thats how i say it lol, idc if i’m wrong XD

    • Gtboy1

i used to say ‘pow-leeny’ also but i’ve corrected my self now 🙂

      • zewology

Um … it is essentially “pow-leeny.”  You can google “how to pronounce christopher paolini” and find a little audio clip of him saying it, or you can trust me that that’s the correct pronunciation.  In Italian, “a” sounds like a soft “o” as in the word “cot.”  The O sounds like a hard O like in boat.  In Italian, most of their dipthongs just slur the two vowel sounds together into one sound.  Try it … it should end up sounding like “pow.”

        • Enza

I’m italian and in the name “Paolini” there isn’t a dipthongs. It’s hard to write the italian pronunciation for english people, but i find a video in you tube of an interview with an italian actor whose last name is Paolini too. So you can listen how we call Christopher in Italy. The video title is “Intervista a Marco Paolini — Premio Amelia — Part 1”. ^_^

          • Dakine391

This link has a good pronunciation of Paolini, the Italian way.

    • GooperChickenFace

I’m Irish and I pronounce it Paaa-Lini. Somehow I only just realized from reading this that I’ve been pronouncing it wrong….-_-

    • AvaAnnaZ

Err, well I’m British and I say ‘pay-oh-leenee.’ Isn’t that what the Americans say?

    • Saphiraimafan

when i first read it i pronounced it “pahh-lonie” not reading it properly (i was 9) and now i say “pahleenie” but always in an american accent in my head ’cause it sounds weird otherwise

  • Alexstlouis

Any chance of CP coming to Madagascar?

  • Avestitos

I noticed nothing has been mentioned or discussed about the Q&A that was to take place at Comic Con. Is there an update to that so we know what to expect?

    • HideInSight

It’s going to be released sometime this week.

    • It may take up to a week. I will not be working for at least the next few days. I returned from Comic-Con and both my father and grandmother are in the hospital, so I need to set work aside from a few days to deal with personal things.

  • Andy_copland

Awesome, except it’s freshers week that week so I imagine I’ll be too drunk/hungover to see him, though he may find my drunken impressions of a drunken Saphira entertaining.

  • HideInSight

Well, good for the UK!  The fans are going to be so happy.  But I hope that CP goes to South Florida on his US tour!

    • Rubydragon

Oh no, not the German strawberries, English strawberries tops them all! and the cream. mmmm!

    • Anonymous

just cause we’re English that means we’re going to serve him tea? …. Screw that i’m giving him some Veritaserum 😉 LMAO! (harry potter ftw)

Plus i do make a meeeeean cuppa if i do say so 😉

    • No, he has to watch out for the strawberries that the Knights Who Say Ni are looking for. They’ll Ni him to death over them!

  • Ceth

Heh, I live near Bath. Wonder if he’ll stop by at Cheltenham again during the Literature festival? Doubt it muchly: there’s authors there who write works which actually constitute as intelligent literature, or if I was feeling harsh, simply literature, for one. And it’s also within days of my birthday – now that WOULD be an ironic birthday present.

  • thenorthenfan

Any chance he will go to Iceland? haha!
    0%…………

Well its always best to go to England. Much cooler country than US.

  • Boo

Oh my god!!!!!! Eek!!!! What about Ireland????

    • GooperChickenFace

Well they said Britain, so he’ll probably go to Belfast at least. My plans to bus it up for the day. whenever that is

  • firemonkey

    First!

    • A really cool person

Okay, I don’t know why, but recently a lot of people keep commenting “First” on the first comment of every post. I was actually pretty proud that we didn’t do that here at Shurtugal, but I guess my sanctuary has been ruined. I don’t want to seem rude but I’m sure nobody here cares who is the first person to comment. Especially when that comment only consists of the word “First.”

      • Would it make you feel any better if I told you I ban people who do the “First!” thing?

      • Would it make you feel any better if I told you I ban people who do the “First!” thing?

        • RogerLairdWriting

Wouldn’t really make me feel better but it is super sweet if you actually ban them.

          • bluedragon

will he be coming to weston ot tanton

        • A really cool person

          Noooooo, don’t ban them; that’s mean…

Just have a rule on the whole “First” thing.

        • Anonymous

Go for it Mike, its such a waste of time … “First, First, First” … i used to do that in year 2 -.-

      • boogaboogabooga

if it really annoys you that much then it shows us more about you than them, we all know that they are childish but the fact that you will go as far as to ban them just seems sad, its not like you have a comments limit do you so just ignore them and carry on

      • firemonkey

Hey, it was my first time logging in and being the first to comment.  I got excited.  Don’t destroy my one and only moment of glory.
