What’s with your “no spoilers” section? Hunt taking 3 books? She’s in an egg for 100 years? You should really just make it an all spoiler section.

  • OH MY GOSH I would love the books but the Skype call with CP scares the heck outta me. I would be completely tongue-tied. I panic when I talk to people like that, I wish I didn’t but there’s nothing I can do to change it.

    • It’s not so bad! He’s really nice!

I have faith that you’d do just fine…

  • Now just before I Skype video call someone I make sure to say “Draumr Kopa” or else there’s an internet connection problem.

  • I just updated Episode 2 fixing a problem with the first voicemail. You probably have to re-download it to see…hear…the change.

great podcast 🙂 will the prizes be available to residents outside of the USA?  the book givaways were not, sadly.

  • no zune support for the podcasts??

  • Bertimus

magic done scientifically. thats the reason Eragon Eldest Brisingr and I am sure Inheritance trumph over harry potter anyday. This is what makes the whole series in my opinion.

    • Black Rose

Not totally true – there are plenty of instances that CP just uses magic to explain things. He never fully scientifically explains how things are done he just throws in a basic concept. For example dragons can just “do” magic at times and the things they do have no explanation. He never truly explains where it comes from(an organ, blood) they just have it. He doesn’t explain how regular rock and sand transform into diamond by a simple touch via some chemical reaction. Like Harry Potter a lot is left to it just can happen so long as you can think of it.

  • I don’t exactly know why, but this episode was MUCH better. And lol you should make that “other” sword mentioned towards the end of the podcast. Just one thing, why was the first voice mail silent?

    • you mean brisingr? I agree. I’d donate money 😀
It would be cool saying “Hei you know Christopher Paolini? Writer of the Inheritance Cycle? So guess what? I and some other people contributed with money to make that Eragon’s sword named Brisingr. cool uhn? And what’s better! It’s a identical replica from the original described in the books!”  XD And Mike, you’re a damn lucky man! You played with that amazing sword with Chris!

      • Lol yeah I meant Brisingr, I just didn’t mention it just in case there were people here who were reading for the first time. I’d donate like $600 at least. And if I’d gotten that sword I’d have been so terrified of playing with it, I sometimes tend to break things at bad times xD

  • britishgal

hey Mike, just wanted to say that this episode was really good! I can’t wait to get to more parts about angela! She’s so cool. BUT, when the voice mails came on, the whole thing went silent. Do you know why this was? x

  • SecretCountess

Will Cp be doing a European tour, with book 4 ?

  • I love reading!!

I was wondering if it’s possible for 2 dragons to hatch for one person?

    • I guess it’s not.
I mean, the relationship between the dragon and its rider is so strong and fragile that I think it would be impossible.
The first dragon would be jealous at some points, it wouldn’t accept.
And btw, if it was possible, perhaps galby would already have more than one dragon. If it was possible, he wouldn’t be searching for riders to the two eggs (now just one) that he has been keeping safe in his castle.

  • Ethiwen

Just to bring this teory to the light I’m gonna make a new comment about it.
Do you remember the Raz’ac who said that Galby was close to getting the “name”? The raz’ac never metioned with name. I think that the name the raz’ac is talking about might me the true name of the anicent lanuguage which is mentioned during this episode. And just the idea of it, Galby finding the name and be able to control everything. That’s real scary stuff!
Just think about it, Galby is mad of power. Do you really think he would waste lots of time figuring out Eragons true name when he can control both him and everyone else finding out the true name of the anicent language. What do you guys thinks? And in this fight of the power of the true name, of course, also the Vaults of souls is included. 🙂

This teory was first mentioned by: Tugal Brisingr.

    • it’s a possibility. But thing straight. Remember when Eragon found the true name of Sloan? It came to him suddenly. I’m not saying that’s impossible finding a true name of someone or something purposely. What I’m really trying to say is that if it’s hard finding the true name of any stuff so it would be almost impossible to find the true name of the Ancient Language. I guess that what Galby is searching is his own true name instead of the AL’s one. I think that if he could find out his true name, he would be almost as powerful as if he found out the al’s one. I mean, Galby would be able to control his energy pretty much better. he would control the flux of magic with more accuracy.

That’s it. I think he’s close to find his own true name, and that when he does he will be almost insuperable.

p.s: I was speculating while writing all this, ok? It’s also a theory and I’ve no idea (at least, I cant remember) that Chris had mentioned that if one find its own true name, so this individual would control its magical actions any better.

      • Fairth

        MORE SPOILERS

Someone (can’t remember who, the elf queen, Arya, or Angela maybe) told Eragon that it was relatively easy to find Galbys true name if you would put in the necessary effort, but that they didn’t know if he knew his own true name or not.  (Maybe someone can find the quote, it’s in Brisingr I think.)If this is the case, then it follows that this would be too easy for him to find to warrant as great a search as this; if nothing else, he could have ripped it from the mind of someone who was going to use it against him before one of his self-defense spells kicked in.  Also, one must consider if he wants to know his true name.  Galby must know that learning his true name will reveal things to him about himself that he doesn’t want to know.

I, personally, don’t presume to know what it is Galby’s searching for, but it’s likely the same thing that Tenga is searching for, and the true name of the Ancient Language is a worthy, if almost unattainable (just think of all the things you would have to understand), goal.

I think your theory is a very interesting one, and may yet be true; I just think that some of the facts lend themselves against it.

        • Ethiwen

           Yeah, I remember that. 🙂

Oh, that’s really smart. Never thought of that! Tenga is also seaching for something. That acually makes some sence.
And completly agree with you. To find out the true name of the anicent langugage would be an great power and something I belive Galby atleast have thought about. But if it would came down to a fight about that. Someone of, for example, Eragon and Galby will have to win by finding the name. And for Eragon to be able to control such power would be a big problem if he stands as the winner. Maybe a reason to why he leaves Alagaësia but still, not very likely.
I liked this teory because it would give the battle a hole new meaning, and an more scary one, but if it’s true… I don’t know. But as I said to Marcos. I truly belive that the name that Galby (and possibly aslo Tenga) is seaching for is going to play a big role in how this story will end. ‘Cause many of the key points into bringing Galby down is about true names at this point. The vaults of souls for example, and just the idea of Galby seaching for a name is a proof for just that. 🙂

          • Go Dwarfs101

Maybe Galby somehow knows about Solembums prophecy and what the vault of souls is, and the “name” is Eragons true name so that Galby can open the V of S.

          • Ethiwen

Well I think that the name he is seaching for is Eragon’s but you never know. 🙂 Maybe it truly is the true name of the anicent language as I proposed, just to think “outside the box.” But for him to know Solembums prophecy I really doubt, that wouldn’t make sense. ^^ Even if it is an intresting thought.

      • Ethiwen

Yeah, I don’t know if this theory even is possible but I belive that in the end it’s going to be a battle of true names, in one way or another. It is some king of true name Galby is seaching for and that name is incredible important to everyone involved. If it’s Eragon’s, Galby’s own, the anicent language or the key to the Vaults of souls. I don’t know. But it is important in some matters. Guess we just have to see what’s going to happen. 🙂

    • SEA

What if it is the true name of Alagaesia? I think that would give him enormous power over anything on the earth.

      • Fairth

Anything within the borders of or outside, but somehow belonging to, Alagaesia is how I imagine it.

      • Ethiwen

Intresting, but I doubt that. ^^ If it is even possible. The land has been there for ages, before de people and dragons and magic. Don’t think it would be able to be controlled in any major way. But who know! 🙂

  • Ekarwelden

I’ve read the Inheritance series about 6 times apiece. This is an awesome series, I think of new things each time I read them. It’s interesting to hear what other people think during the books. Thanks for the awesome Pod Cast

  • Laurelleaf9

                        SPOILER!!!
I didn’t pick up on it, but Vrael hiding eldunari (heart of hearts) in the Valt of Souls before he was defeted by Gaby makes sense, and when Solembum says “speek your name to open the Valt of Souls”, ‘Eragon’ is the password (also being the name of the first rider).

  • Laurelleaf9

Can’t hear the 1st voicemail! wish i could

  • E.

That was an awesome podcast!! Keep it long!!

I’ve read the books like 3 times & I’m having trouble deciding if I want to follow along reading again with the podcast then read book 4 or wait & get book 4 then read them all at once? :/

    • read the chapters according to the Big Twenty Episodes dude!
      It’s fun, trust me 😉

  • SecretCountess

    Yes keep it long!

  • Thanks for not shortening the podcast to 35-45 mins!!! it is better the way it is right now.

  • Anonymous

Amazing podcast! I agree with Marcos, this was better than the first one.

  • Fairth

First I’d just like to say that I love the idea of there being a limited edition version of Brisingr for sale; although I recognize the difficulty involved in accomplishing that is most likely prohibitive.

The other thing is about color-blindness and being able to describe the difference between having it, and not.  As someone who has been color-blind my whole life, I can say that you learn what color things should be, for example, I don’t look at the sky and call it a vibrant purple, or look at grass and call it brown (even though it is if it starts to die, a distinction I must use other facts such as the withered status of the grass to make).

I hope that can lend some light to people who see the world with the colors they were built to see it with.

  • Laurelleaf9

this might be a SPOILER, and a jump through the books, but here it gose… The 2nd Ra’zac mentioned before it was killed that Gaby was close to finding “the true name!” -Brisngr paperback pg.65. I think that he was searching for Eragons true name to control him. I think he (assuming he ‘found’ it) has the wrong name. Why? because he dosen’t know that Eragons father is Brom.

    • Laurelleaf9

I haven’t listen to the podcast yet, i’ve just (after typing) read the comments

    • superbob92

I think, rather, that Galbatorix and Tenga are looking for the same thing:  the true name of the Ancient Language.  Controlling Eragon is a small matter compared to obtaining complete control over all magic.

      • Laurelleaf9

true, thats just what came to mind when i first read the paragraphs

  • Tugal Brisingr

Oh yes about the Dragons in the spine they would have power to hide themselves maybe put themselves in a trance like state like Arya did to herself when she was being tortured by Durza

In response to your question about why Brom decided not to train Eragon in magic early on:  Brom mentions that most Dragon Riders did not manifest the ability to use magic for years.  Which shows that Eragon is not just another Rider, he is extraordinary.  Brom probably didn’t think that he needed to touch on a subject Eragon couldn’t possibly understand at that time.  Imagine trying to learn to use magic without the experience of using it instinctively.  Tough stuff.  Sword fighting was a more prudent choice of training at the time.

Great podcast, i love how you incorporated us (the fans) into it.

  • Sesshy

there was no sound for the first voicemail? can u tell us what it said?

    • I will look into this as soon as I can. (I was out of town this weekend!)

I’ll get back to you guys when I can find out!

  • DragonsAreAwesome

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!  They actually played my voicemail!!!!!  I am soooooo happy!!

  • serg

I think it’s noteworthy that Saphira specifically chose a human of all the people she was surrounded by! I feel as if there is a message around that, since humans were seen as inferior creatures and (as it was said here) were only given one or two eggs a year. And Saphira chose one of these weaklings as the person she wished to work with. I think that’s a good message Paolini was sending out- the view the world gives something is not the view it deserves sometimes.

  • Ethiwen

This was really good. 🙂 Have a lot of things to think about now. Have discovered some new theories for example and some new thoughts. Keep going, can’t wait for the next one!

  • Well, just finished listening to it 😀 I gotta say guys, this one was pretty much better than the previous podcast. I mean, not that the first one wasn’t good. It’s just that for me, it seemed that you guys were more focused. So, good job. Well, I took some notes.. Here I go ^^

I liked when you discussed about Saphira being wiser than Eragon. I didn’t realize that, I mean I must have known that before, but it’s was so natural that I didn’t even realize, but anyway, when you mentioned the fact that she was conscious when she was in the egg, I stopped and thought: But wait, so If she was in fact conscious, so it means that she did know things about Galby. Since she was under his control once, she must know things, at least she should, I guess…

So, ahn.. I don’t know how to pronounce Gedwey Ignasia, too. LOL I have this problem while reading anything in the Ancient Language, it’s nice knowing that i’m not the only one XD
Gosh, there was so many interesting points in this podcast.. I laughed when you said how awesome would be if we could understand what an animal is thinking! It hadn’t popped up to my mind LOL And that Christopher is color blind – I was all like WOW how could it be? How does he see the Inheritance book cover?

Well, it also was interesting when you mentioned about Brom and Saphira. I wonder when *spoilers* Brom told Saphira he was Eragon’s father. It doesn’t say, does it? I can’t remember. But anyway, I also think that she should know about Brom. I mean, she is a dragon, too smart and all. And she had been with Brom when he stole the egg from Galby (and assuming that inside the egg she was aware of what was going on around…)

So, that’s it. There are a lot of other points (how dangerous is trying to revive one person; the spine and the vault of souls – I think it’s there! must be there!) I’d like to take on this post, but it’s already too big. And I was all like OMG when you said the prize! It’s a GREAT one! Talking to Chris himself! Sounds like a dream… well, that’s it

    • Daniela Sammet

Brom told Saphira when when they were flying together and trying to hunt down and kill the Urgals Eragon met when they had left Teirm- at that time he also left Eragon the memory.

    • DragonsAreAwesome

**SPOILER** It says in Brisingr, and is inferred in Eragon, that Brom told Saphira that Eragon is his son when Brom hunts down the Urgals with Saphira after Eragon knocked them out with magic and Eragon himself is unconscious.

      • oh, thanks guys.. it’s just that I read Brisingr months ago and since then I’ve read so many other books I forgot details like this ^^

  • Jeriah

Haha, you chatterboxes. It’s okay, though, I actually love the long podcasts. Interesting thoughts, especially the “rebirthing” theory. Haven’t really had any of my own thoughts to put out so far, but I probably will with this week’s reading, what with going to that place and having that sad thing happen and meeting up with that awesome person…very vauge to be anti-spoiler. lol

  • bromandsaphira

good podcast, but wouldn’t Brom know about the Razac’s mounts? Without spoiling anything, we know that he would know, so why did he act confused?

    • Steven

There are many reasons of why he played dumb. The most important one is that he wanted to keep Eragon interested in tracking the Razac down, so that he could continue to travel and train with him. If Eragon had known everything about them he might have given up.

  • Tugal Brisingr

Oh yes and also about the spine there would have been many spells that Vrael could have used to hide the dragons, maybe thats why Vrael wasnt strong enought to kick galbos but

    Great podcast!

I like the idea of presenting Christopher with the sword, Brisingr.

It would also be great if one of these sword making companies would make a limited edition of Brisingr.  I would totally get one – I do have a movie replica sword of Zar’roc and would love a replica of Brisingr.

  • Tugal Brisingr

OMG THATS WHAT GALBO IS SO CLOSE TOG GETTIN rember the Ra’Zak saying that he was very close to discovering it

    • Ethiwen

Wow, I think you’re right. The ra’zac never mentioned exactly what name Galbys is close to discover. I always thought it was Eragon’s name he/she was talking about but now that you’re sayin it… Maybe not.
Jeez, now thinking of it. Galby finding out the true name of the anicent language, that would be soo scary. I mean, that would really top my list of scary stuff in the series.
Before it was the thought of a “Shadow dragonrider.” When I was first reading that I really started to think of how scary that would be. But Galby finding out the true name of the anicent language… That’s just too much. But I really could see that being like the final battle, “the battle of the power.” And scary, as I already said.
