    Dear Mike,
Although, like everyone, I wish there were more news about the series, I’m really glad this website is available! Because I know that as soon as anything comes up, you guys will be all over it. It’s very refreshing to find a website that follows a book series like you guys do. I’m an avid reader, and let me tell you the only site that I found that even compares to how well you guys follow things is Mugglenet for all us HP fans 🙂 Anyways, keep up the good work, I check the site every day 😀

    • Dlmarvin05

P.S. the interview was really good 😀

  • Dennis

Is there going to be another Q & A with CP? I have some new questions

  • Dennis

  • XxxX

Hey Mike, just create a seperate page for haters.

  • Jahooty **

I dont see whats so bad about Lytherus. I find it useful and frankly it deserves a bit of promotion.

  • Irishmonkeydick

You mean two weeks ago on Lytherus

  • Seris

Okay, let’s just try to *constructively* pass the time, guys: What would each character want for Christmas and why?

    Eragon:
    Arya:
    Saphira:
    Murtagh:
    Nasuada:
    Galbatorix:
    Angela:

Personally, I think Angela would want a car that runs on pickles, because it’s not a hat.

    • I appreciate the sentiment but this isn’t the right place for that. I suggest creating a similar thread on InheritanceForums.com

  • Marco

Hey Mike, whilst I understand you’re all excited about the new project ‘Lytherus’, please don’t forget us here on Shurty. If you are going to post up news on the website, at least keep it up to date. On December 6th you told us about what was on Lytherus in the week (this article), it is now the 16th and we have yet to receive another update. I’m just sayin’.

Just because there is a slump in Inheritance info, doesn’t mean you can start some fan-based projects, (fan-art, IC soundtrack etc.). You promised us so much in the revival of Shurtycast, which was never followed through. Oh, and you ditched that after the first episode anyway. Before that was the, ‘submit your own article’, we were supposed to have a fan column. I wrote some stuff and never got a reply. Again the project was ditched. Monthly interviews with CP? Ditched. Twist within interview? Ditched/postponed.

I understand you don’t have the time, but at least let us get some article space on the front page then. I wish you all the best with Lytherus, I know you will not give up on it. That’s because other people are writing articles, that’s what SHURTY needs.

Having had a look on Lytherus after giving into the intrusive gray banner I have read a few informing posts. I was under the impression from your recruitment post that it was going to be all elitist but that is thankfully not the case.

BTW: Listing the triple AAA video game Christmas releases, and linking a couple of YouTube vids is not proper reporting, it’s called laziness.

-From you slightly frustrated but supportive fan.

  • mmmmm

mike, do you know if any inheritance news will be posted soon?

    • Yes, tonight.

      • Elvenstar

        Props, sir.

      • Elvenstar

        Props, sir.

  • guest number 1001 plus 2

Stop Ripping on Mike, I don’t like the fact that there is no Inheritance news just as much as the next person, and if you don’t like the Lytherus stuff, don’t read it, I know I don’t. I would rather they have some activity on the site than blow smoke up my arse with nonsense. Besides Q&A’s there are only really going to be three more topics till the book comes out, the cover, the release date, than the release.

    Let it go people.

    • Braxtonb

Good points plus eveyone thats been complaining about lytherus just stop. If Mike didn’t put this on we wouldn’t have anything new to read on this site for a moth or MORE. Plus I think this is really cool. And if there was inheritance news he would post it trust me.

  • sirsimon

we should be grateful to Mike that he is taking time out of his life to post news and articles, though this isnt truly inheritance cycle material, it is still relevant to the genre.

I suspect that Paolini will be announcing something big over the next month or two, I can feel it. Perhaps the completion of the novel?

By the time it has taken paolini to write the fourth book, it is either a huge book, or it is the hardest to write.

No offense, but the fourth book will probably be the worst or best in the series, it will contain so much cool stuff, stuff we have wondered about since 2006, but unfortunately, critics said Brisingr was extremely dull in large areas, I have to partially agree, I found some parts just slow. If the fourth book really is so large that it has taken over two and a half years to write (accounting from start to release), then big chunks will be slow with little action. This is common in the books, there are some parts that slow down, only for a large battle to end it. An example is the battle with Murtagh half way through Brisingr, it was slow beforehand, but a battle was then added to increase the speed.

Its just a theory, I am not dissing his work, its something that has come up

  • Anonymous

Hey …. “could you post something more relevent to Inheritence” … errrr no. Not really, there’s naff all to post kiddas, so i don’t think Mike could post ANYTHING relevent to Inheritence until A) the book is complete or B) a newsletter is released …. possibly the other way round 😛

  • Fwacha!Dragonrider180

Completely off topic, but just saw the Cassandra Clare news. YES! The date is so close!
    Cool cover, by the way.
Sorry Paloni, but you’re tied with Cassandra Clare and Harry Potter.

  • Gilgamesh

do you guys mind posting stuff that actually has more than a vague connection to the inheritance cycle. i am beginning to get fed up with all this lytherus stuff. it just clogs up the thingamajigger on the homepage. jeez, if you don’t have anything, do opinion articles or something.

  • ShurtugalShuriken

Alagaesia.com hasnt been updated in a while, how much does CP go on his website?

    • Alagaesia.com is managed by Christopher’s publisher, not Christopher himself.

    • Mr. Anonymous

Yeah seriously its got only old news from years ago n maybe one or two dates that are remotely recent, though unimportant. Though the main page is generally neatly kept, the news area is badly neglected. His publisher is probably too busy to mind the website that many have forgotten over Shur’tugal.

  • Xander

If you would update your site with more things maybe people would come here more.. Goodness I get tired of looking at the same ol thing day after day!

    • Although I’ve said this many times now, I’ll say it again: I can’t invent news. I post what we have.

      • Seris

It could be very funny if you did…

      • Xander

Ok Ok. I shouldn’t take my frustration on on the site because truthfully I love the way the site looks and the feel. etc… I think my frustrations lie more with CP and his lack of news he puts out. If they would only redo the first movie we would really have some stuff to talk about. So my apologies to you Mike

  • sirsimon

i think Lytherus is a great idea.

I have a good suspison that Paolini is close to completion, I can feel it. He could be done by mid Janaury.
Also, it could be possible a few years after the fourth book, they will remake the franchise.

  • Ganon:RiderofArgorok

    Hi Mike,
I appreciate the whole Lytherus thing and I think you are doing a great job. Being here when we had the massive Q&A arguements, I agree that people will get more bored with no news at all.
However, although there is no news could you not use some Inheritance-themed activities? You said a while back about getting the users to post articles about particular theories, whatever happened to that? Maybe as well we could have a ‘weekly-chapter,’ in which you randomly choose a chapter in any of the books and open up a post discussing it: What you like about the chapter, what you didn’t, how good was it, did it help the story, what happens in general, things we learn, new mysteries that crop up. That could then be opened to discussion where we post our own thoughts on that chapter etc.

Please don’t take this as negative, I do see the need for you to post something because I know how many people complain when you don’t, just giving some ideas on some Inheritance-themed posts you could make while we go through a dry-patch where news is concerned 🙂

    Regards

    • These are all great ideas we’re looking to explore. 🙂

      • Ganon:RiderofArgorok

Ace, I look forward to seeing some in the future 🙂

        Regards

        • Mr. Anonymous

I think the weekly chapter idea might be good to try out. Going by random is better because some chapters are so short and there are so many it would really drag out! Maybe picking the special ones… (as if they’re all not special!)

        • Mr. Anonymous

Whenever I’m viewing an article and I’m also viewing the comments or I expand it to view the whole article there are a few picture things that don’t show up. I didn’t know if you were aware and it isn’t a huge deal and who knows maybe it is only happening to me but I thought I’d bring it to your attention. The one of the owl thing on the right hand side right above ‘most viewed stories’ doesn’t show up and there are two parts of the new Lytherus bar along the top that don’t show up either. Sorry about this being completely unrelated!

    • Do you know how to take a screenshot? If you do, please take one and submit it to [email protected] so that I can take a look at the issue you’re having.

      • Anonymous

Okay I took one and sent it. 🙂 Thanks for helping!

        • Anonymous

That happens to me, too – on Shurtugal.com. The Lytherus bar at the top doesn’t show up properly on the “full article” pages. The links are on the left, and there are no images (except for the “Latest Headlines” image), just a blank x square where one should be. That’s in Internet Explorer 8. In Firefox 3.6.6, there are no blank images, just the “Latest Headlines” image and links underneath it centered.

          • Anonymous

Yay it isn’t only me haha, yeah I tried Internet Explorer and Google Chrome and both had the issue.

  • Fwacha!Dragonrider180

Hey dudes, news is better than no news.

    • Hey, that’s what I’ve been saying! Quit stealing my lines!

Just kidding, I do appreciate the support. 🙂

Lol but inheritance news is better than any news!!!!! Heheheehee

Grrrr I want book 4 out!!!!!! but oh well i can wait a bit longer. Say a year, otherwise I will march to chris’s house and smack him!!!! lol jk

  • weredragon

So I don’t really mind the Lytherus updates.

But thought you ought to know, you could just say “Speculative Fiction” instead of repeating a million times “Fantasy / Science Fiction / Horror” over and over. Its more of an umbrella term, thought it might help with getting your point across….

    • Good call. I’m as sick of writing all that out as you are of reading it!

  • Trickey

Please, keep the Lytherus articles on Lytherus’ website. If we wanted to read those we would go to that website. I understand you are starting a new website and want to promote it, but do that on a sidebar or on the top of the screen like you are already doing. To answer to vague response, yes we would rather you post nothing. We’re not morons, we know that there is no news yet and if there was you would report it. It is a pain to come to the site and have to scroll through unrelated posts looking to see if there was something new to view.

    • Wadellz

You must be new here since last time nothing was posted for a while everyone abused him. It’s his websites and he can do what he wants. Some people expect news and when they can’t get it and there is none they take it out on the staff.

    • I’m sorry that you have to scroll past one news post and feel your pain.

  • MR snuffles

    Dear Mike,
Your a great guy, and have done alot for me and all of the other thousands of inheritance fans:dont forget that.
I wouldnt have seen any of these;theories, interviews etc if it wasnt for Shurtugal.
I enjoy these posts that you put on here and find Lytherus very interesting.
For example Inception Video game. LOVE
Back to the point, ignore all these haters just remember your an amazing person with an amazing taste in books (Harry Potter then Inheritance=my FAVS)
    Love, snuffles

    • People like you rock. You guys keep me going! Thanks for being so awesome.

  • Poop

this is shurtugal. not lytherus. i dont care about friggin lytherus

  • Sorry for the slow updates on Shur’tugal this week folks. I’m on my first vacation from work that I’ve taken in a *very* long time and as such won’t be updating the website much (if at all) until I get home on the 13th. Thanks for the patience though!

  • Soul Finder

I have to say something but cant get on the blog so here it is.

I have found out where specificly where the Vault of Souls is. Its Brom’s grave on the sandstone Rock of Kuthian the tomb is called a vault TWICE and is also made of diamond which makes it an eternal resting place for Brom’s soul. It’s also on top of a big rock most likely the Rock of Kuthian. This also means that Eragon himself made the Vault of Souls. Solembum also says for Eragon to speak his name to the vault (presumably his true name) I think that his true name is seven words of the Ancient Language that brom told him to “Use them only in great need.” this must be his true name. So Brom’s grave is the vault of souls.

    Signed …. Christopher Edward Martin

    • Fwacha!Dragonrider180

It makes everything fall into place.

    • Mr. Anonymous

Wow this could totally work or could be farther from the truth! We will find out. I think that if this is true, then brom’s soul could even speak to eragon later once he opens this vault (like an eldunari sort of thing), which would be awesome. You should try to get it into the theories section, though, bc this comment area isn’t for that.

    • Seris

Well done, sir. Well done, indeed. And I thank you for giving us all the feeling that this still, somehow, remains an Inheritance site.

  • Mr. Anonymous

Hey, guys. I used to be anti-lytherus for a bit but actually found that the blogs are prety good. We should all give lytherus a chance– it’s really an awesome resource with so much news and information about a variety of topics. Putting aside my first qualms about it I really like to look at the well-written blogs posted there. Good job Mike and team!

  • Tulkas Astaldo

Is there anything on Lytherus remotely pertaining to Tolkien?

    • Once there’s info to report on the upcoming Hobbit movies, we’ll be all over that. Until then.. there isn’t much to cover.

  • Fwacha!Dragonrider180

Yay! You got your anime posted! Love FMA

  • Jeez, defensive much? XD I understand what you’re saying, but no need to jump down everyone’s throats…

    • I explained nicely, I didn’t jump down anyone’s throat.

  • Jahooty **

Great it really gave me some ideas for Christmas. By the way Mike great job on the new site 🙂

    ps. Walking Dead ftw!!!!!!

    • Thanks! I have a really awesome team that’s made this all possible, so huge thanks to them!

      • Anonymous

Don’t pay attention to the haters. Love the additions. They makes shurtugal my one stop fantasy shop. Keep up the awesomeness!

      • XxxX

For the record, above poster is not hater
just a person extremely confused by this
A little more explanantion would be helpful

  • James Walker

yeah i agree…shurtugal was better without news about other books, but i guess thats just my opinion..:(

    • Would you prefer we post nothing?

      Let me explain this:
      – We’re in a slow period right now. There’s hardly any Inheritance news to post
      – If we didn’t post other news items that appeal to our audience while we wait for Book 4, Shur’tugal would go blank for weeks and you all would complain about us not posting anything
      – I figure that seeing news that appeals to many of our readers — since it’s news on other fantasy books and media that we can enjoy while waiting for Book 4 — is better than no news at all

I do love feedback. It helps me make sure I’m doing the right things with the website. But I must ask you this: would you honestly prefer we post nothing at all? Because it seems to me like posting stuff that also appeals to you guys while having no Inheritance news to post is much better than nothing at all.

      • XxxX

I do love these generic replies
        XD

      • Thisisurubaenboy

The funny thing is, you keep asking “would you prefer if we post nothing”? Based on the responses you’re getting, the answer appears to be “yes”.

  • Wmmcinnes

isin’t this a little off the Shur’tugal topic?

    • Would you prefer we post nothing?

      • Rr-g

        you whinge alot

      • Homertherat

I may be alone in this, but I come here for Inheritance (basically book 4) news, and that’s pretty much it. I like the interviews with CP, but none of the other stuff catches my eye. Interviews with authors of books I’ve never heard of, let alone read, are pretty much useless.

It’s great that you’ve got this whole Lytherus thing going, but it doesn’t interest me at all if it doesn’t have anything to do with Inheritance, which is the only reason I visit this website. I’ve got other sources for any news that interests me. Now, I’m not trying to be a jerk here, because I don’t know anything about your audience. They very well may feel the exact opposite; I have no idea. But for me, someone who only wants to read about Inheritance related things, and doesn’t have much/any interest in other fantasy/scifi/horror/whatever else, Lytherus isn’t useful.

So, that’s how I feel about Lytherus. Remember, this is just my opinion.

        • Feel free not to read posts that you don’t enjoy. No one is forcing you not to and not reading those posts isn’t difficult. In the end, Shur’tugal is part of my network of websites that I bust my butt working for day in and day out.

I study our traffic statistics often. I calculate what I do with Shur’tugal and how I promote my other websites. These articles about Lytherus on Shur’tugal have been very successful, thus, no reason for me to stop them.

Again, if you do not enjoy these articles, are they really hurting you or affecting your ability to enjoy the Inheritance content on Shur’tugal? Please remember: I don’t post these articles in place of Inheritance news. If these weren’t posted, there would be nothing in their place.

Thank you for the feedback though. I listen to all feedback, both positive and negative — especially when it’s constructive (like yours) and not rude. 🙂

          • Seris

Sir, I must respectfully back Homertherat. It’s not that we don’t appreciate the effort- I certainly do. It just feels disappointing to scan the site for new Inheritance news only to find articles on nearly everything else in the fantasy world. Perhaps it should be put to a poll? It could make this far less aggravating for all parties- then we either have no right to complain or you have no imposed onus to post. Thanks, Mike!

          • Again, if I instead did not post anything regarding Lytherus, there would be nothing more posted on Shur’tugal. There is no Inheritance news to post, so we post Lytherus in its stead.

There will be no poll, sorry. Again, if you do not like Lytherus content, simply ignore the posts. We are not sacrificing posts to make Lytherus posts.

          • XxxX

With due respect to provide everyone with a win-win situation,
XxxX decides to create a solution

I know the arguement we would all hate you if you posted nothing and no matter what you say there is ALWAYS Inheritence News
And there are a bunch of Inheritence Theories flying EVERYWHERE
But, some people, such as myself, who love Inheritence to its deepest roots, who would kill to talk to Paolini or even Mr. Mike Macauley, Do not have the time to sift through this plethora of threads and forums.
To solve your problem of not being able to post something, just post one or two Inheritence theories weekly or every few days. People can comment on them and feel like something IS going on.
Keep Lytherus off of Shur’tugal.com. Not because we don’t like Lytherus, but because the reason so many fans visit this website is for Inheritence and not Sci-Fi.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t give Lytherus a chance. But OBVIOUSLY, looking at how fans have responded to this post, people DO NOT WANT LYTHERUS ON SHUR’TUGAL.

            Respectfully, XxxX

PS if you do have a rebuttal for this, or if anyone else does, please post it

PSS I do understand MR. Macauley, in the end it is your choice what to do or what not to do, I simply wish to express what many people have perhaps expressed rather rudely, and our frustration is not with you but with the anticipation coming with the release of Book 4

          • Cobyjj

btdubbs this isnt a the place for theories.. thats for inheritence forums . iim pretty sure if you click on any link to a theory you can discuss them there… there fore posting them would just be pointless

          • You’re actually incredibly wrong. The overwhelming majority of people do enjoy Lytherus on Shur’tugal. How do I know this? The huge influx of traffic Lytherus received from Shur’tugal, as well as the fact that this news post here is one of the top most viewed posts of all time.

Please don’t confuse a few complainers with the majority.

          • Someone who posts

the main point of XxxX’s comment was that don’t say there is no news to post
And is it technically possible to properly attribute WHY people are checking this post
Could you perhaps distribute the #’s of the post’s traffic to dispell all these annoying hater comments
Perhaps the Lytherus propaganda on Shurtugal is why so many people visited this post
And despite this propaganda, and numerous attempts to achieve the following, I do not think Lytherus has been fully explained on Shurtugal.

          • XxxX

Hey!! how do you know what my main point is….
            though he kind-of-is-right

          • XxxX

Hey!! how do you know what my main point is….
            though he kind-of-is-right

          • I’m not going to go out of my way to put some sort of statistical presentation together to prove a few people wrong. The simple fact of the matter is that Lytherus on Shur’tugal has been an overwhelming success. Again, don’t confuse the vocal minority with the majority. It is evident that most people who visit Shur’tugal have enjoyed Lytherus content, and those who don’t can simply choose to ignore it. I’m not going to continue running in circles trying to explain this to people.

          • Anonymous

I have been thoroghly enjoying Lytherus. Its super convienent and has cool stuff. Keep in mind that for the most part the people who are opposed will always be more vocal than the ones who enjoy. just saying…

        • Braxtonb

IF You don’t like lytherus then dont click on it and post about (im just sayin)

      • Cobyjj

Hey mike sense this is a slow period why dont you start having people post questions for the january q/a? even if Chris cant answer them at the moment (because of the holidays and such) it would still get inheritence fans excited

      • Mikaelab

I quite like seeing a lil bit a Lytherus in the slow period. But Mike, didn’t you say something a while back about an awesome video interview thing you had going on with CP? Or maybe just yourself in relation to the Inheritance Almanac? That sounds exciting. And alagaesia-related. Which would make everyone really happy. 😀 Whatever the heads up is on that, Merry Christmas Mike and well done with Lytherus.
