Shur’tugal’s Comic-Con Contest: Win an Amazing Prize Pack!

We’re excited to announce that we’re running a huge give-away competition alongside our Comic-Con International coverage in hopes of offering fans access to some amazing gift packages! Each day during our Comic-Con coverage (starting July 22nd and running through the 25th), we will release a “word” on the website. The word will be unique each day and will only be available on that day. Fans will be asked to collect each of the four words and at the end of our Comic-Con coverage, will be offered a form to submit all four words and their email address for a chance at winning one of three awesome prize packs.

More details on the contest are available after the break, including a full list of the prize pack contents. Suffice to say, the contents will be awesome (over eight books from five different authors, all autographed –including at least one book from Christopher Paolini himself – promotional DVDs, t-shirts, signed photos, and more!).Looking to win one of the three awesome gift packs? Here’s the details you need to know:

  • Starting July 22nd, one word per day will be posted on Shur’tugal. The word will pertain to that day’s event coverage. The word will be very distinguishable – you’ll know it’s “the word” for the day once you find it!
  • Write that word down on a piece of paper and don’t lose it! You won’t have a chance to find the previous day’s words once they’re taken down.
  • Visit the site each day! Check out our awesome Comic-Con coverage and look for that day’s word. There will be four total words – one for each day (22nd, 23rd, 24th, and the 25th). Write them all down! Don’t lose them!
  • To be fair, we will be deleting any comments that reveal previous days’ words – people who visit the website each day should be rewarded over the lazy ones!
  • On July 26th, Shur’tugal will release a contest form. You will enter all four words into this form along with your email address. On July 30th, we will close entries and randomly select three winners! Winners will be contacted via email.

The three Shur’tugal Comic-Con Prize packages will include:

  • At least one of Christopher Paolini’s novels, signed by Christopher himself.
  • At least one of Michael Scott’s (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel) novels signed by the author.
  • One autographed copy of Lauren Kate’s Fallen series book.
  • One autographed copy of a book from Esther Friesner’s Nobody’s series.
  • A signed box set of Eldon Thompson’s “Legend of Asahiel” series.
  • One exclusive, limited print (and not available elsewhere!) Vroengard Academy t-shirt.
  • Collection of exclusive Shurtugal.com stickers, Inheritance cycle book plates, and signed photos of Christopher Paolini!
  • Promotional materials only available at Comic-Con, including DVDs and CDs containing sneak peeks at many of the above authors’ series.
  • More to be announced during or after the convention!

So now you have it! Visit Shurtugal.com each day during our four day event coverage at Comic-Con International July 22nd through the 25th and you’ll have a shot at winning one of three amazing Shurtugal.com Comic-Con International prize packs containing over eight autographed books and more!

If you have any questions or comments regarding the contest, please leave them in the comments below. Good luck!

Aw this is going to confuse me with the time difference and everything…. like it’s the 22nd here now but is it there yet? I can’t see a word yet so I’ll assume not… or I’m being absolutely oblivious as usual….

@Mike Macauley: Thanks just wanted to check. A lot of people have region free dvd players nowdays so it may not be that much of a problem- all of ours are anyway, except the x-box and ps2 but their main purpose isn’t really for dvds anyway…

@DuSundavarFreohr: It will be in a random location on the page. Having seen what it looks like, it may be pretty big (unless we shrink it a bit).

I don’t think it will be anywhere but the home page, but not the same location each day. We want to make you think and look, but you’re NOT going to be stumped for an hour. That’s for sure.

Awesome idea ghuys, kudos. one question though, will the word just be a random word in your summary of what happened that day? like in the article? or will it be randomly posted somewhere on the site?

All of the authors in the prize pack are great. I’m actually in the middle of reading Michael Scott’s fourth book in the Nicholas Flamel series — The Necromancer — and it’s my favorite so far. I’ve reviewed two of the four books on the website before. I love them!

We’re launching author profiles for each of those authors alongside Comic-Con. You’ll be able to learn more about the authors and their books from those pages.

I’m not sure if the contest will be open to people outside of the USA and Canada. The region locking is an issue — if someone not in North America won the pack, a lot of it would be useless. However, I think we’ll give those people a shot and if they win, they will at least get the books.

yes, I also would like to know, I really never heard of those series (except the inheritance cycle, of course) but they seem interesting, particullary the Nicholas Flamel one.

I also want to know if the contest is open for all countries around the world, or is just for the USA and Canada, particulary because of the DVDs, in Europe they need to be region 2

I officially know what all four words will be (considering I’m the one who made them all up in Photoshop, I better know ’em)!

They won’t be extremely well hidden — I don’t want people spending hours looking. However, they’ll be hidden a bit. You won’t be able to just pop over to Shur’tugal, take two seconds to write the word down, then head out. We want you to stay a while, enjoy our Comic-Con coverage, and find the word while you’re looking around!
